Adebayor’s time at Arsenal coming to an end?

Posted by on July 13, 2009 | 10 Comments

I’m sure most of you have heard the news that Manchester City are in talks with Arsenal about the possibility of signing Emmanuel Adebayor.

The Togolese striker has been linked with a move to AC Milan in recent weeks, however the Italian giants seem to have cooled their interest, leaving the door open for Mark Hughes to make a move.

Adebayor, 25, is likely to cost City as much as £25 million, which won’t be a problem. Arsene Wenger recently stated that Adebayor would still be an Arsenal player next season, however it now looks as though he may be wearing blue when the new season kicks off in August.

From reporting on Adebayor in the past, I get the impression Arsenal fans will be glad to see the back of him. There is no doubt that, on his day, Adebayor is one of the best strikers in the Premier League and Arsenal will miss him, however I think Wenger have someone up his sleeve to replace him.

Should the deal go through, I’m struggling to pick a front two for City. They have got far too many strikers, so I would be surprised if players like Felipe Caicedo were still at Eastlands next season.

Now THIS would be a quality signing by City. Adebayor is one of the strongest and most talented strikers in the league in my opinion. I’d take him over Drogba.

Would be a good signing imho… At 25 he is a much better age than eto’o, drogba or fabiano and fulfils the strong yet skillful forward role we lacked last season. I know arsenal fans may say he has an attitude problem but maybe a change of scene might motivate him. An attacking line of robinho, tevez and adebayor is certainly one to relish…

From an Arsenal point of view, what do I have to do to make that happen?

Cross my fingers? Light a candle and make a wish? Prey to the football gods on bended knee? Sacrifice an animal (a sloth, I suppose) in front of the Emirates? I’ll do practically anything. I’d even punch David Bently in the face..

I will be glad that he leaves. Please let him go provided a good money is placed on the table for us to cash.

We can easily get another better person.

Sad there goes Arsenal’s hope of winning anything this season. We continue to confirm we are a selling side.
Why this when we should be thinking of adding to the side to prepare for a real attempt at the league title or some other silverware, and why sell to the one team which actually has a chance of taking us off the top four????
Shame on Wenger if he does this.

Why do Arsenal fans hate this guy so much (strange). I think this lad has excellent quality and if he joins City then I have a feeling he’ll make the Gunners regret letting him go. City need 4 quality strikers; Robinho, Tevez, Santa Cruz and one other. We also need a right back (Maicon perhaps) and at least one if not two quality central defenders… JT & Lescott. I can see City top 4 next season and I think if Adebeyor he’ll leapfrog his old club

With this guy out the team we might have a chance of improving next season. He has had his day at Arsenal and it is time for him to step down a level to City. His betrayal, live on Sky Sports about this time last year finnished him as an Arsenal player in the eyes of true, right thinking Gunners fans. Bye bye son, don’t slam the door on the way out…

Only a money whore like Adebayor would leave a fantistic team like Arsenal to drop down to the lowly refuse, that is Man Citeh. Have fun playing for the UEFA Cup you poor filthy dreg…Good riddence…
