Forget Shamrock Rovers v Real Madrid

Posted by on July 20, 2009 | 2 Comments

If you want to see a real football match in Ireland this week, Dalymount Park is the place to be with League of Ireland Champions Bohemians hosting Red Bull Salzburg in the 2nd leg of their Champions League qualifier.

Pat Fenlon’s men go into the game on the back of a terrific 1-1 draw away to the Austrian giants, however there is still a lot of work to be done to ensure Bohs’ place in the next round.

Much has been made about Shamrock Rovers glamorous FRIENDLY with Real Madrid over the past few days and weeks. 10,000 tickets sold out in no time despite the fact they cost a ridiculous €60 for the FRIENDLY in Tallaght tonight. Rovers officials were forced to install 7,000 extra seats due to the huge demand for tickets to see Cristiano Ronaldo and co strut their stuff.

Tonight’s match is likely to be a one-sided affair with Real Madrid showing off their silky skills to the 1,000′s in attendance. Most of the fans in attendance have probably never gone to a League of Ireland game in their lives but because Real Madrid are here, they think they are real fans. They’re not.

If you want to see a COMPETITIVE match between two sides desperate to win, go to Dalymount Park on Wednesday. Both sides will be battling for a place in the 3rd qualifying round of the Champions League so we should be in for a cracker. With tickets just €15 for adults and €5 for oap’s and kids it really is a bargain. I mean, what would you prefer to do, spend €60 to go to a friendly and see a few big name players in the flesh or spend €15 to go to a Champions League match and watch two sides battle it out

Follow this link to buy your tickets for Bohs’ crucial Champions League match or simply turn up on the night and pay in and you never know, you might bump into me.

player hater !!! football is all about having fun and being competitive, if you would like to watch a competitive game then you should wait till mid august to watch the premiere league and the Spanish and Italian leagues when they begin in September. To the real football fans who do love the game, there are plenty of matches played everyday that you can enjoy, manchester united played today and as will Real Madrid and the champions Bohemians do play as well.
