Well Mark Hughes clearly thinks so, but what do you think?
Much has been said about Manchester City’s spending this summer, with the club spending nearly £100 million already on the likes of Emmanuel Adebayor, Gareth Barry and Carlos Tevez with more spending expected.
A lot of people have said that it would be a breath of fresh air if City could win the Premier League title next season, however many others are angry that City are ruining the game.
So, what do you think? Would it be good for the game if Manchester City won the title next season? Comments below please.

Only the jealous ones are saying City are ruining the game, how long have we waited for a chance like this. Week in, week out we go to watch a right shower, about time we had a shot at the big time. Still can’t believe all the City are ruining football comments. Never said when United spend 30 milliom on Rooney, Ferdinand, loads on people like veron and plenty of others. Liverpool 20 million on Torres. 9 million on kuyt, 10 on alonso, 7 on Peter crouch. And when Chelsea also spent endless money on people like Shevchenko 30 million, mikel 16m, kalou 8m. The only difference here is we can do it all at once. U lot can’t. SSSSHHHHH.

It would be the very very best thing for the premier league if Man City won the title and finally put an end to the monopoly the ‘so called’ top 4 have been able to dominate due to the advantage they have from CL money and the status they achieve to attract the best players. City will break the MONOPOLY !

of coarse it would be great to see city winning the league this year, although i dont think it will happen this year but top 4 should be a must. the most interesting thing is going to be the fact the top 4 of last season and many more before that rely heavily on cl money and that is why they are all heavily in debt, what is going to happen to these teams if they no longer have cl money? Liverpool will almost collapse if they were not in it, lots of debt just like chelsea, utd and arsenal, time for someone to take advantage of cl money and lets see the mass exodus of players from which ever of the monopoly teams dont make it, purely because they cannot afford to be out of cl positions and the revenue it brings. me thinks bye bye to liverpool or arsenal this season

i think it would be great for football, much has been said about the spending which has been taking place at Eastlands, but if city were to achieve a top 4 place this year im sure citys spending next year wouldnt be as drastic as this close season.
its a matter of getting somewhere fast and then maintaining it through the years, its just 1 blow out to get us where we need to be. im sure we would adopt the bringing youth players through suplemented with other experienced talent once we break through.
also it makes for an exciting season and pushes all other teams to try that little bit harder and take points from the big boys, ctid

Well, this spending has still not by any means reached Un*ted’s levels, or Chelsea’s, over a few years. But what it has done is inject many millions into the hands of other Premier League teams, without which they would possibly not spend a thing this Summer. Given that Un*ted have received 80 million for Ladyboy, and don’t have to pay his or Tevez’s wages, why is it that all they can do with the money is pay the bank loans? Same for Arsenal – a £40 million gift and they still won’t spend it. They are the ones ruining football, by not circulating this money amongst the other clubs. So let’s hope the other non-Sky 4 teams join us at the top, that should shut those deadly dull Sky 4 Clubs’ fans up. Bring on Lescott now, and Everton can put his fee in their pockets as well. Weird.

How can four of anything have a “monopoly”. Personally I believe that financial doping should not be considered an intrinsically bad thing. Having said that, better City than bloody Chelsea….

I dont remember anyone feeling sorry for poor City when they were in the old 3 division. Now the so called top 4 have got a bit of competition everyone is having a go. Ferguson, Benitez dont care about the teams at the bottom with no money to spend because they are no threat, They have been happy taking their champions league money for years while the rest of us do without, Maybe its time for a change.

Ruining football? Would that be the football whereby Manyoo win the title every year? Whereby the same 4 teams are guaranteed Champions League places every year? Whereby the Champions League has the same 8 teams in the quater-finals every year? Bring it on!

Watch this space, City will break the top 4, then Pompey will make a break for top 6 then Aston Villa and Everton will see new owners and also challenge for top 4 and you will see United and Liverpool pay for their greed.
Chelsea are currently taking extremely measures to ride the storm of the financial climate right now and Arsenal are balancing the books also.
The English Premier League needs a fresh new shuffle and City are leading the pack.
Its great for English football as a whole.

I have heard a lot of jealous talk. I had an Arsenal fan saying why Mark Hughes will be the first manager sacked this year. Wishful thinking. They all hate city now she said. Well I remember a few years ago when we were trying to hang on to SWP and the papers were trying to sell him for us, Wenger saying if Chelsea are going to make a move let them get on with it because if not we want him and we can’t compete with them. And so Chelsea bought him probably just to stop Arsenal getting him. It was OK then. The so called big 4 with there divine right to pillage our small clubs. Well now the worm is turing and I don’t mind being hated one bit. In fact i am lapping it up.

Well said Robert Channings. Its squeeky bum time for the “top four” and they don’t like it. Lets just sit back and enjoy, every City fan deserves it.

About Time this Top 4 were giving more to worry about so here come City next year Pommy start making it a real leauge for all teams to have a go not just 4 teams who use C.L money to afford the elite footballs and then put in down to having C.L. football wgen the fact is their wages are un heard of in the bottom half of the leauge
