Anyone who is more than just mildly interested in football would have watched a fair amount of the European U21 tournament. Cattermole was one of the stand-out players of the tournament for England. He displayed leadership qualities, a very good range of passing and composure, as well as keeping his notorious hot head under control. I must admit I wasn’t a fan a few seasons ago but I would love him to come to Sunderland, and develop into a regular England International. I think puzzled must be permanently just that!

I would be very happy to see him at Liverpool along with Turner from Hull City due to the new European rule coming in soon, It's about week in week out performances and these lads put it in, They would improve very quickly at Liverpool with good players around them. He had to get out of Middlesbrough because he was basically getting into all sorts of trouble off the field - a move to a new place seems to have helped him grow up. He's alot younger He's alot quicker He's covers miles more ground/is much more energetic He is much stronger in the tackle/a more intimidating player If his passing can improve to half the standard of Alonso's then he'll be twice the player. But what i will say is that in the U21s in sweden, he was the big stand out player me in the England team. He had good awareness and ability, all at the right age... I dont think we should pay more than £9m for him If rafa goes for him, im sure he knows what he is doing! Not seen too much of the guy….
