Tottenham to use Bent money on this Premier League midfielder

Tottenham are ready to use the £12 million they will receive from Sunderland for Darren Bent on Chelsea midfielder Joe Cole, according to reports in some papers today.
The England international was previously linked with a move to Tottenham, but for whatever reasons he remains a Chelsea player. Cole, 27, spent much of last season out of action with a serious knee injury and as a result, only made 19 appearances in all competitions for Chelsea.
Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp is desperate to add another midfielder to his squad before the transfer window shuts on September 1st and with Cole not fully guarenteed first team football next season at Stamford Bridge, Redknapp thinks he may be able to lure him to White Hart Lane.
Should Chelsea decide to sell Cole, I would be extremley surprised if more clubs weren’t interested in his services. He is, without doubt, one of the best midfielders in the Premier League and I think he would still be value for money at the rumoured £12 million. I would love to see Cole leave Chelsea before the transfer window shuts because I really believe a move would do him the world of good.

i think cole will only move to a team that can increase his chances of first team football..is that spurs…? well im not a spurs fan, so i wouldn’t know !
i thought spurs had loads of decent midfielders? if so, cole won’t come in my opinion
enjoy the money from safc and enjoy watching bent bang in 20 goals this season while crouch struggles to hit 10

Com’on !!!
Joe Cole is a class midfieler. As you said one of the best in the premier league. He has the skiil, the touch, the creativity, everyhting. If he is not to injury prone he will be a quality player for us. Definetly in the England squad for 2010.

Funny how players get hyped up to the hilt when they’re very young. Was it Harry Redknapp at West Ham who said again and again and again that he wouldn’t play Cole until ‘he was ready’. Press then made out as if Cole was going to be the best English player since Duncan Edwards. And now, in the prime of his career, he might have to take a demotion to get some regular football.
Still, though, class player. Wouldn’t look to bad in a City shirt, would he?

Although we are screaming out for a central defender, if the opportunity is apparent then we should go for it.
If the rumours are true that Pirlo is on his way to Chel$ki then Cole has no choice but find an exit route. Many may see going to Spurs as a demotion, but we are only a few pieces short of a team that can guarantee European football be it the Champions League or the Europa League. Joe Cole could be one of those pieces. Cole on the left and Lennon on the right or vice-versa and opponents will have major issues. With the bite of Sgt. Wilson and the drive of Jenas and Modric, Spurs now look a desirable side. Many options be it a 4-man midfield or a 5-man midfield.
That being said, it does us no good being great going forward if we cant defend!

joe cole is one of the best midfielders in the country when fit. would have thought since ledley king, michael dawson and jonathan woodgate are all injured, spurs would target defenders to help the situation.
