Barcelona to make shock £12 million bid for Premier League defender?

Barcelona are today preparing to make a shock £12 million bid for Manchester United defender Jonny Evans.
The European Champions are keen to bring a new defender to the Camp Nou this summer and Evans is now understood to be their number one target.
Evans, 21, was without doubt one of the best defenders in the Premier League last season, making over 30 appearances for Manchester United. He was even nominated for the PFA Young Player of the Year award as a result of some outstanding displays in the heart of the United defence.
It is perhaps significant recognition for Evans that a club like Barcelona are willing to cough up £12 million for his services, however I would be extremely surprised if he were to leave Old Trafford in the coming weeks.
He still has a couple more years on his current deal with the Premier League Champions and I should think Sir Alex Ferguson will be able to persuade him to stay. I am positive we still haven’t seen the very best of Evans and I think after this season, given enough first team football, Evans will be worth far more than the £12 million being mentioned at the moment.

I would be gutted to see either vida or evans leaving for Barca, however if barca were open to a p/ex involving perhaps iniesta or even messi going the other way, it might work really well for us. Granted both players would demand a cash supplement along with whichever of our defenders the move involved, but it might be a good idea to test barca’s desire to have a real quality defender, possibly the one thing they lack.

Kushal, please tell me how barca rely on utd for everything if it’s such a ‘fact’. Because they bought pique?! wow…and as for the 1st comment from jezz, laugh was all i could do after reading that! Iniesta or Messi for EVANS!!! OMG that is extremely funny, obviously barca would have to give some cash as well would they? Tool

He wont leave united. His dad will kick his arse coz he knows fergie is the best manager in the world to control and blossom new talent such as evans.
He may get a new deal out of this with some more cash but he will still be wearing a united shirt come close of the transfer window.
