Do Tottenham really need this £10 million midfielder?

Tottenham have today been linked with a £10 million move for Celtic midfielder Scott Brown, however I’m not too sure Harry Redknapp really needs him.
Brown, 24, is considered by many as one of Scotland’s finest midfield players and in recent years has been strongly linked with a move to the Premier League.
The Scotland international has spent two seasons at Celtic Park, making over 90 appearances in the process. He won the SFA’s Player’s Player of the Year last season, despite the fact Celtic missed out on the SPL title to bitter rivals Rangers.
The reason why I don’t think Brown will be on his way to White Hart Lane is the fact that Spurs already have an abundance of midfielders to chose from in the shape of Tom Huddlestone, Wilson Palacios, Luka Modric, Jermaine Jenas and Jamie O’Hara.
So what do you think? Do Tottenham really need Scott Brown or should they be spending money in other areas of the field? Comments below please.

Ihink that you may well have a point Cathal, The Spurs team out there today looked far better than any sid eI saw last year, an that includes the one that so neatly despatched the arse in the wonderful draw at the lane when Bentley scored his bset goal ever before wilting into obscurity.
The truth is that given a little time to adjust slightly to a more defensive holding role Huddlestone could do a fine job with Placios in the middle and Harry’s funds would be better spent on player from the same team as Brown, in fact Aiden Mcgeady to be precise. If Spurs had a true left sided player like AM we would be able to move things slightly and utilise Modric in his more prefered role behind the striker playing asimilar formation nto Liverpool today. Only to more effect obviously.

Brown is one of the most over rated players in Scotland. Many of the celtc fans don’t rate the guy.
He’s fit, a strong runner but technically lacking. He’d be found out in the EPL and £10 million is way over the odds. I wouldn’t be happy paying half of that for the guy to be honest.
Rangers got the better deal when they bought Thomson from Hibs. Brown cost twice as much and is on twice the wages but he’s not as good as Thomson is.

No even if we can get rid of crap like Jenas and Bentley.

Anyone, “Arry” included, who watched the Norge/Scot match would think more than twice about Brown, he and his team were absolutely abysmal. compared to Sissoko he’s a boot room boy!

Hehe. Yeah just buy him and then let him fail to reach his potential. If he looks like he might get there, then we’ll just have to find a way to stop it happening. We are Spurs after all.
As for the players you claim are good at spurs in his position. Modric isn’t physical enough to play center mid. Same with O’hara. Huddlestone is like J.O.Mikel most games and falls asleep doing the simplest things. Jenas is a great player and a complete waster all in one. Which leaves Wilson Palacios. I like him and I think he’ll need some help. One man does not a midfield make.

We need to sign Champs League players from the big leagues to push on to the next level. We got rid of tidy players like Malbranque, Tainio etc.
we should be looking at the like of Van de Vaart & Robben. If we are going to displace THudd and Jenas, it needs to be with someone A LOT better. A dominant midfielder. Maybe one of the French lads mentioned, but he needs to be big and powerful Fellaini would have been a good buy.
Would like a true left winger (to replace Ginola!) when we have to attack teams down both wings; Adam Johnson, Robben, Duff, Ben Arfa, Joachim, Maxi. Unless Danny Rose is ready to step up.
Other than that I am happy with the squad, Bassong is a great buy. we also have several forgotten good players to come back, who may prove themselves this season.

i think we need some1 who can do on the left what Lennon does on the right because Modric is clearly 1 of the best attacking midfielders in the league but he needs to play centrally to allow him to link up with the strikers better and our attack is so unbalanced that teams like Man U and dare i say the ARSE after they’re weekend display will realise that if they can keep the ball away from Lennon we’ll struggle to attack with the speed that makes Defoe & co soooooooo dangerous.

i have to say spurs were good yesterday but with jeans, bale and maybe even bently being on there way out. spurs will have cash to spend. with modric’s performance yesterday it dosent look like we need a left mid and with bassong it looks like we are covered at the back so i deffinately think we should spend in the center of midfield and after missing out on cattermole brown will be and exciting player with a pretty much free role next to wilson.
