Three words to sum up Liverpool’s performance today

Posted by on August 16, 2009 | 45 Comments

Liverpool got their Premier League campaign off to the worst possible start with an away defeat to Tottenham.

Rafa Benitez’ men were beaten 2-1 at White Hart Lane this afternoon and in truth they never really looked like getting a result.

I’m sure I’m not alone by saying that Liverpool were poor today and to be honest, if they play like that every week, they will struggle to make into the top four.

Football Corner wants you to sum up Liverpool’s performance in just three words. Tell me your three words by leaving a comment below.

My three words : not very good.

    Team cannot compete..

Unfortunately for us Liv fans,I foresee a difficult season.

Even a team like Spurs has more quality players in the bench & more proven strikers than us.

Its a shame to get beaten and is a big drawback to lose 3 points.. I bet the rest of the big four will beat Tottenham or at least get a draw..

I dont see us challenging unless we:
    1. put Gerrard back in midfield along Masch / or later Aquilani AND
2.Get a proven striker (Negredo?)who wil also push Torres coz the lad is becoming lazy..
3.Get a good centre-back as back up..preferably an english one coz we need 6 english players in z squad for CL.. if we cant get Shawcross or Turner,I think we should go for Sol Campbell even if he’s a bit old coz we dont hav options right now & Sol is free agent

    Either

    Don’t blame lucas

The lad did alright today but should be him or alonso. Need to bring in another striker but we don’t seem to have the money as the Alonso sale cash, and don’tforget the keane sale, appears to have been banked. Of course excluding £15m for Aquilini. The alternative, and probably more fitting words are probably:

    Blame useless Yanks.

  26. King torres
    August 16th, 2009 @ 9:26 PM

By the way meant to say should be Lucas or Mascherano not Alonso, thats just wishful thinking.

    GET OUT YANKEES!!!

The Americans is the first major failure for Liverpool which we should get rid out a.s.a.p. Lack of transfer budget see us uncapable to buys the right or all time transfer target like Silva, Villa etc etc (if u guys agree with me).

Blame David Moores = He shouldn’t have sold the club to the heartless Yanks. Now the Yanks are holding our club by our throat. Where are the cash promises to Rafa earlier? No cahs, no new stadium, no title

Wake Up Rafa = Clearly you need to sign world class players. More firepower upfront is needed. Pls do something before the transfer window closes.

Its all Beni’s fault. He could have started with Yossi instead of Ryan. Look at how Look at how industrious Liverpool is when Yossi plays.

Instead of Kuyt, he should have pulled out Lucas and get Gerrard to drop back and introduce Ngog or someone who could a kick a ball instead of Voronin. Everyone can see that Spurs have done well in cutting supply to Gerrard. So he should drop back.

I bet Liverpool is going to draw or loose the next 8 to 10 games until Aquilani plays. Sell Voronin, Lucas and Ryan..hopeless goons and bye bye top four/PL title. I dont think Liverpool can even smell CL next season. When that happens…bye bye RB.

Tottenham realy mean business in scoring goals and winning games. They start with Keane and Defoe up front, and substitute them with Crouch and Pavlyuchenko – four quality striker, all competing for a starting place.

And we have… Torres (I’m not going to mention Voronin)!!!

Are we really trying to win games…??? Because only goals can win a game!
