Liverpool pair heading for Anfield exit door?
Posted by Cathal Breathnach on August 18, 2009 | 15 Comments
Both Albert Riera and Andriy Vornin have been linked with moves away from Liverpool this morning.
Riera, 27, has attracted the interests of both Real Madrid and Barcelona after spending just a year at Anfield. The Spanish winger admitted last week that he would be interested in a move back to La Liga at some stage in his career, however it would appear that may happen sooner rather than later.
Liverpool spent £8 million to sign Riera this time last year, so Rafa Benitez will obviously be looking to make a profit if he is to sell in the coming days. Personally, I don’t think Riera’s done too bad during his time on Merseyside. He is a bit hot and cold but I feel Liverpool should probably hold onto him for another season at least.
Meanwhile, Andriy Voronin. Well what can I say. Shocking hair, shocking player. The Ukrainian international has only returned from a year long loan spell with German side Hertha Berlin, however it looks as though he may be on his way back to Berlin. The 30-year old came on as a second-half sub in Liverpool’s 2-1 defeat at Tottenham on Sunday, however he failed to make any kind of impact.
I would be surprised if Liverpool let go of both players without bringing in any replacements. I can see Riera still at the club on September the 1st, however the same cannot be said about Voronin. The sooner he leaves the club the better. Enough said. What do you think? Comments below please.

Offload Voronin and keep Riera. That’s my opinion. And we need a back up striker for Torres.

Rockstar out, Riera stay

100% agree with the comments. What emerged from Sunday is that Spurs had the firepower of the likes of Crounch and Pavleochenko (excuse the spelling), to bring off the bench, and what did Liverpool have – Voronin. To win the EPL a lot has to be done. Firstly, I don’t think that Riera should leave at all. Voronin needs to move asap. Get a good back up striker with Torres, and a right sided midfielder!!!

every liverpool fan knows that the squad is not deep enough and selling riera is a bad idea even if we did buy another left sided player we have gained nothing, selling voronin is good sence he is on wages and getting fifty quid for him would be better than nothing

Even if we were to sell them both, where is the money coming from for a centre half (and non of this fourth choice rubbish) AND cover for Torres whilst we’ve still got Barren Greenback and Penfold in charge needing to syphon off every penny for THEIR interest payments and finance arrangement fees?
Well done Agents Moore and Parry – fools.

Keep riera. I don’t know why voronin is not performing well, seemed like a promising player. But its okay. Let him go.

Sell Voronin, should get around 3M £.
Keep Riera.
Start using Babel only as a back-up striker.
He has pace, is strong and a powerfull shot.
It just seems like he is never gonna reach his potential. Whenever he gets an opportunity to play for Liverpool, he almost never delivers. If he doesn`t step up to the plate soon. Get rid of him while he still has a value.
8-12 M £ is ok.
Sell Lucas also if he doesn`t deliver before january. 4-8 M £ is ok.
And Dossena…, well just get him of the paycheck. 3-7 M £ is ok.
Pull Gerrard back with Mascherano in some games. I think it would be better to get him involved earlier in the set-up.
Get more pace on the passing as Alonso did. Until Aquilani is fit.
We should get a back-up striker and/or attacking midfielder.
One wich can operate in the area behind Torres. One in the region of 10-20M £.
WE NEED A NEW NUMBER 7!!!!!!!!
Someone like David Villa.
PLEASE.
It looks like Benitez doesn`t get the money he was promised.¨!#¤%” Yanks.
So far he has made a profit in the transfermarket, in a year wich we should take another step up on the podium.
YANKS OUT!!!!
Keep up the good work RAFA.

we all had great expectations for this season.. but by the look of our squad at the moment, more money need to be made available for a proven striker up front with torres, but we all know there’s no money left in the pot for rafa!! liverpool will struggle even for a top six finish this season! the americans should call it a day and sell lfc to people who really loves and cares about liverpool (before it gets too late!!!)

I was expecting one good signing for Liverpool, especialy with Alonso leaving -Aquillani is good but he comes as a replacemant. It seams now that Liverpool doesen’t even have enaugh for a decent cover at center back position. That could really do a lot of damage to the team that has a real shot at the title this season.
Early defeat is a worning that something needs to be done.

Just what the hell is going on?…When the transfer’s about to end and the season has started why all this shit is croppin up?..In my opinion off load Voronin but in a way he is not given enough time to prove his worth. But RIERA…NO WAY..he is developin to become one of the best wingers..Is Rafa too blind to see who is suppose to be offloaded?…What about Lucas?…What about Babel?..What kind of shitty performance was with Spurs?..We were lucky to lose 2 -1 ..It could have been more if Keane have not scored and that justifies why we sold him.

Voronin should have been gone last season. Riera is not a first team player. But he can be a good squad player. If RM and Baca comes for him, Liverpool should take the profit. 18m would be great! With these new funds, Rafa should really get a world class player. Sell Lucus or loan him out. I hate to see him playing for Liverpool, always not able to integrate as a team.

if we need a striker, we might sign owen instead.hmmm….sob sob
August 19th, 2009 @ 7:05 am
i think babel should also play back up striker, sell vorinin and lucas and buy rafeal vaan de vaart.. this is a good player, b4 the gunners snatch him..

I dont understand some players, crouch was a success in liverpool but ddnt want to be a substitute so he had to leave, robbie keane ddnt want to be s sub either its true totenham have good firepower upfront but it will bring the same old problems like the tmes of Ramos the strikers all not happy. A team cannot have too meany stars because they would not be all happy.it happened last year when man untd signed berbatov, so totenham, man city watch out its really hard to make all players happy and remember they all want to play to get in the squad for the world cup .
