Everton ready to spend Lescott money on £10 million Arsenal target

Posted by on August 25, 2009 | 7 Comments

Barely a day has passed since Joleon Lescott left Everton for Manchester City and speculation is rife as to who will replace him. Reports today claim that Fulham defender Brede Hangeland may be the man to replace Lescott at Goodison Park.

The Norwegian international has been strongly linked with a move away from Craven Cottage in recent weeks, with Arsenal understood to be interested, however as of know, Arsene Wenger has yet to make a bid leaving the door wide open for David Moyes to make a move.

Roy Hodgson will obviously be keen to hold onto one of his most prized assets, however Fulham will find it hard to turn down a bid of £10 million plus for the 28-year old.

Personally, I think Hangeland would be a magnificent replacement for Lescott. He is, without doubt, one of the best defenders in the Premier League and I feel Everton would be receiving great value for money should they land him for somewhere near the £10 million mark.

It will be interesting to see how this one pans out over the coming, so stay tuned to Football Corner for all the latest. What do you think? Would Hangeland be a good signing for Everton? Comments below please.

No way would ANY club get him for as little as 10m. If Lescott is worth 24m then so is Hangeland. Anyway, I could understand him leaving Fulham for a Champions League club but not just another Europa League club, especially not one so far from London.

    Dream on!

Brede is loyal to Fulham. Despite Moyes’ superb efforts, Everton are not a club that are likely to challange for seriously worthwhile silverwear.

Can’t see Brede leaving for anyone else but title challangers.

Good luck with the season though.

Great player and from an Evertonian I think we’d be lucky to get him. Fulham are a team on the way up just like Everton so I’d be suprised to see him leave Fulham for Everton.

I doubt very much Hodgeson would allow him to leave for that amount after seeing us get 24mil for Lescott. Media b0ll0cks! Would love him at Goodison park though, twice as good as JL at centre half.

At 28 he may be too old for Moyes to want to spend 10 million. Moyes ends to reserve his big money for younger players because they retain their value.
