I totally agree; Sir Alex will, indeed, rue not spending as much. And whatever he HAS spent on is, with due respect, not good enough. I haven't seen Obertan as yet. Antonio Valencia has been a big disappointment. I don't see him doing well for the Red Devils at all really! Owen has started well... but would he be fit and available when the crunch games hit and United face tough oppositions in the league and the Champions League? Only time will tell.

(continuation of second comment) I also believe that Fergie is right to have faith in the youngsters. One of the main reasons for no new replacements is the arrival of Kiko Macheda from Italy who has now made some appearances and Headlines. Danny Wellbeck has also moved up through the ranks and together those to can terrorize any midfield. They might be younger with less pace (not the case for Wellbeck - His even faster then some premier League defenders and midfielders older than him) and body strength but the years of playing together is obvious in how well they play and understand each other - extremely good partnership which was obvious when they played against Everton in the Fa Cup or Carlings Cup even though we lost.
Furthermore for the midfield we have Matt James. A true superstar in the making. He has an eye for goal from distance and can pass both short and long.

Other players are Davide Petrucci, Ravel Morrison, Oliver Norwood, Eikrem, Hussain and others. There arez other young and unheard names but with time they will make it.

To replace the current FIFA Player of the Year is one tough job and I do admit that the the departure of the once great Ronaldo is evident in the type of results we obtained the start of this season.
But as a Man Utd fan I believe that Sir Alex Ferguson has a point. He has faith that the youngsters will pull through and create a new generation of superstars. He is right.

Ronaldo played as an attacking midfielder on the flanks, sometimes tacking a central role even or as an out and out striker. The fact that our midfield and attack lacks that sparkling name I think that makes it more difficult for teams to anticipate our attack. Our team is playing a sort of 4-6-0 formation with fluid movements between our midfielders and strikers. They interchange their positions making it difficult to anticipate their moves and mark them.( That is evident - Ronney is always drifting to the flanks whilst Nani or even someone like Fletcher moves inside the box.

Also the fact that now all of our players are indeed on the same level we can expect any one of them to create the spark and creativity needed but I admit that so far this has not been the case.

I also beleive tha

Not many managers/clubs get the opportunity to create history, especially as monumental as winning 4 championships on the trot. Fergie has had this unbelievable opportunity twice and seems to have blown it both times by his stupidity in the transfer market. In 2002 he bought RvN & Veron but sold his best defender Stam, a decision which cost him the record then. This season he has overseen the sale/transfers of 2 world class players and stubbornly refused to try and replace them despite money to burn. Fergie's folly will haunt him into retirement, which will surely happen at the end of the season.
