kaka real madrid sevilla

We begin this week with La Liga and in particular Sevilla beating Real Madrid by one goal to nil in Seville to break the Galactico’s unbeaten run. To be honest, I”m pleased for Sevilla. They played so much better than Real and worked so much harder, they wanted it so much more and got what the deserved. And in fact they deserved to score more but Iker Casillas had a pretty good game.

While Real lost in Seville, Barcelona had won the previous night at the Camp Nou after grinding out a 1-0 win against a stubborn Almeria side. Even this early in the season La Liga is certainly hotting up. With Sevilla possibly the most in-form team in Europe right now is there a chance we could add a thrid horse to the mix in the race for the title? With La Liga being dominated by Real and Barca for the past couple of season I think it would be good for the league if Sevilla could maintian a challenge. Heres hoping.

Shifting our attention back to the Barclays premier league, where the shock of the weekend certainly came at Old Trafford.  Former Red Devil Steve Bruce almost guided his Sunderland team to a famous 2-1 victory over the champions but for devestating own gaol from centre half Anton Ferdinand.

With Manchester United scraping a point from the clutches of defeat Chelsea and Liverpool both looked to take advantage as they met at Stamford Bridge on Sunday. However it was the Blues’ who came out in top in this one and capitalised on United’s slip up the previous day.

Arsenal also maintained their title challenge with a terrific win against Blackburn Rovers. Despite falling behind twice in the game Arsenal won the game comprehensily, beating Sam Allardyce’s men 6-2, with Cesc Fabregas in particular showing terriic form.

As the International break approaches there are some great games to look forward to. Ireland take on Italy in a mouth watering game at Croke Park as Giovanni Trappatoni’s men look to try and snatch the top spot in the group from the visitors.

In South America Diego Maradonna and Argentina will be the centre of attention as they take on Peru in a game they must win if they are to continue their bid to qualify for South Africa.

What a result it was Chelsea smashing Liverpool it’s just a shame Man-U did their usual trick of scoring in extra time with Sunderland
