Robinho looks all set for a January move to the European Champions

To be perfectly honest, I’m surprised this move didn’t happen during the summer.

Manchester City striker Robinho looks as though he may be on his way to Spanish giants Barcelona after spending just over a year with the world’s richest club.

The Brazilian international was strongly linked with a move to the Catalan club during the summer transfer window, however for whatever reasons, nothing ever materialised. Robinho hasn’t played for City since injuring his ankle over a month ago and to be honest, Mark Hughes’ men have been better without the £32.5 million man.

Ever since Robinho arrived at Eastlands over 12 months ago, he has been nothing but trouble. Perhaps I am being a tad bit harsh, however I firmly believe that City would be better off without him. He is a player who craves the limelight. He’s not interested in being a team player and with all the big name arrivals this summer, he is no longer the player everyone is talking about at City.

The 26-year old even admitted earlier this year that he would one day love to move to the Camp Nou to play for Pep Guardiola’s men and I would not be at all surprised if that happens in January, especially with the comments today from Barca Sporting Director, Txiki Beguiristain.

When asked about the possibility of Robinho signing for the European Champions this winter, Berguiristain had this to say : “He is a very interesting footballer and he can play in the Champions League.”

What do you think? Comments below please.
