David Silva & David Villa for £45 million would be the deal of the century

Posted by Cathal Breathnach on October 28, 2009 | 21 Comments

silva and villaIf you look at it this way, Manchester City spent £32.5 million signing Robinho from Real Madrid last summer. To think that Manchester United might be able to sign Valencia duo David Villa and David Silva for just £45 million this January is incredible.

Several papers have reported today that Sir Alex Ferguson is preparing to spend a large chunk of the £80 million received from the sale of Cristiano Ronaldo last summer on the Spanish pair once the January transfer window opens.

Valencia have admitted this morning that they would find it incredibly hard to turn down any bids for both Silva and Villa this winter, with the club still firmly in financial difficulty. As you can probably guess by the title of this piece, I’m a massive fan of both Villa and Silva.

Both players still have several years left in their career’s, especially Silva who is still only 23-years old. I’m sure the majority of you who saw the pair play in the European Championships back in 2008 will know just how good they are. Without them, I doubt it whether or not Spain would have gone all the way in Austria & Switzerland.

As a football fan in general, I would be delighted to see both Villa and Silva play in the Premier League. At the rumoured £45 million, they undoubtedly represent great value for money and I think it’s fair to say that the likes of Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester City would all be very jealous should the duo arrive at Old Trafford.

First off, they are great players. Second, there’s no way that the combined value would be less than £50-60 million. Villa’s at his peak and Silva has bags of time and potential. Third, Fergie is not the kind to spend that kind of money!

Come on Cathal you know as well as I do that the money from the sale of Ronaldo is helping to pay a fraction of the debt.
It is very doubtful if they will ever pay out that kind of money under their present owners.

Have to agree with Paul – This is just speculation to put the papers off the fact that the rags are in financial meltdown. Perhaps the brown-nosers will start to question yoonited’s finances when they fail to sign any players of note come the end of January?

Why mention the money spent on Robinho and not the money spent on Berbatov?

Lmao, Yernited have got no money, Ferguson would have to bank-roll it himself so i doubt very much anyone will be arriving at that crap fake club unless its a tapped up kiddy.

Pull the other one, more chance them arriving at City, the real club of Manchester CITY.

OK ok!!!!!.After all united did sell C-RON at a high price and to buy an extr pair of players is not to bad.VILLA and SILVA would be a great addition to the red devils ranks.AND for those who think united do not have the money for the duo are so wrong Fergusen has nothing to do with what goes on in the board room they are the one’s who should pay the debts not him he handle’s the transfers.

    MAN UNITED FOREVER
