They beat Chelsea 3-1 just two months ago but manage to lose 9-1 to Spurs yesterday

You know what they say, football is a funny old game.
It was just two months ago when Roberto Martinez’ Wigan caused one of the biggest shocks of the season by beating Premier League leaders Chelsea 3-1 at the DW Stadium.
Contrast that to yesterday’s humiliating (that’s a massive understatement, I know) 9-1 defeat at the hands of Tottenham.
It really does make you wonder how a side, composed of basically the same eleven players, can convincingly beat the league leaders one weekend, yet still manage to lose to 4th in the table just two months later.
I just wondering what this result will do for the confidence of Wigan keeper Chris Kirkland. The former Liverpool man is currently on the verges of the England national side and with South Africa fast approaching, yesterday’s performance will not have pleased Mr Capello.
I was delighted to see that the Wigan players have this afternoon offered to refund the Latics fans who travelled to White Hart Lane yesterday. You never really see that happen in the game and I think the players have to take a lot of credit for this, however it really is the least they could have done.
I am curious to see how the Wigan players bounce back when they face Sunderland next weekend.
What do you think? Comments below please.

Awesome display of attacking football from Spurs – the pace and movement was fantastic.
Kirkland actually had a good game. Believe it or not, it would have been double figures had it not been for him. He made some excellent saves.
What’s staggering is the score was only 1-0 at half time. The demolition happened entirely in the second half, with a goal every five minutes…

Great performance by Spurs, but Wigans win over chelsea disguised a poor Chelsea performance. Who even with 10 men spent the 2nd half trying to get the equaliser. Wigan only got the 3rd with Chelsea down to 9 men

These are freak results but the one thing that poor Wigan faced was Spurs with the perfect midfield in Lennon Palacios Huddlestone kranjcar and this only happened because of poor Ireland’s extra time heartache and Robbie sitting this game out .Now Harry needs to decide whether to stick with this team .Or make changes well i would make one change and rest Ekotto and put Bassong there then we would have a better back line this would be my team to play Villa GOMES CORLUKA WOODGATE DAWSON BASSONG LENNON PALACIOS HUDDLESTONE KRANJAR DEFOE CROUCH OR KEANE
