Emmanuel Adebayor : What a waste of money

Posted by on December 16, 2009 | 7 Comments

Emmanuel AdebayorCast your mind back to the 18th of July. Manchester City spent a reported £25 million on Arsenal striker Emmanuel Adebayor. My intial thoughts were that it was a bit much for a player who blows hot and cold.

Two months and four goals later, I couldn’t fault the guy. He was working his socks off for the team and he became an instant hero amongst the City faithful.

Ever since his infamous stamp on Robin Van Persie’s face and the ban which followed, Adebayor has been a different player. The 25-year old has managed just 2 goals since the middle of September, however it’s not just the lack of goals which has got me so rilled.

The Togolese international looks totally disinterested when playing. Tonight’s performance against Tottenham really summed up his time at City. Whenever he looked like he was going to do something decent, he managed to mess it all up by passing it to someone in a Spurs shirt.

£25 million really is starting to look a ridiculous sum for a player as frustrating as Adebayor.

Spurs fans were singing it and I would have to agree with them. “What a waste of money.”

As an Arsenal fan I am glad we off loaded this lazy over rated nonce, it will not be long before you realize that the goals will dry up, he will want more money, he does not get the off side rule, etc.

Exactly as I told you in August. I was abused at the time, for saying this player with the pirate face and lazy mind would be a waste of money and that Hughes was mad to buy him.
Now we see the manager’s folly in even clearer perspective. Imagine paying money to WATCH such a wastrel as Adebayor, let alone tens of millions to recruit him. LOLOLOL!!!!

Absolutely agree, he is bone idle. The big worry though is that Robinho makes him look like a workaholic!

oh dear oh dear, we gooners did tell you “REAL” city fans this would happen and all we got in return was a load of abuse and them telling us we were jealous.

well whos laughing now? this is what you get for throwing millions and millions at mercenary players who only hours before signing on the dotted line phone up every “big” club in europe begging them to buy him instead.

even if arsenal dont finish in the top 4 (which lets face it, they WILL finish in the top 4) we didnt spend hundreds of millions of pounds to finish in the top 10. dear oh dear.

I just wish I had Adebayor’s number so I could call him up and tell him what I think. The thing the disappoints me the most is that Hughes bought him, I used to have a lot of time for Hughes.
