Another transfer window, another move for Robbie Keane?

Posted by on December 22, 2009 | 12 Comments

It is perhaps unsurprising that as we get ready for the January transfer window, the name Robbie Keane is at the centre of much of the transfer speculation.

The Tottenham striker has made no fewer than seven moves in his 12 year career, however it seems as though he may be about to turn that seven into an eight.

Keane, 29, looks to be on his way out of White Hart Lane after Spurs boss Harry Redknapp threatened to strip the Republic of Ireland international of his captaincy at the club, due to his heavy involvement in the now infamous Christmas party earlier this month.

Regardless of any christmas parties, I personally think that Keane himself may have looked for a move away from north London next month, giving the fact that he has fallen down in the pecking order of late at the club. As it is, Keane might be forced out of the club to an extent, however only time will tell.

Celtic are among the favourites to sign the former Liverpool, Inter Milan, Leeds, Coventry and Wolves striker, with Tony Mowbray priced at 4/1 during the upcoming window. Sunderland are 6/1 whilst midlands rivals Aston Villa and Birmingham are both 16/1 to sign Keane.

I really don’t know what’s going to happen in the coming weeks, however I would not be at all surprised to see Keano on the move once again.

I could see this one happening with Boruc going to Spurs and say 4-6ml in payments over 2 years .If Spurs keep Keane they will probably have to pay more money to the pool so sell him now and we beat the add-ons and get a great keeper plus a few mil to spend on Upson .If we could get Bellamy then we would have a great shot at 4th.Add parker and a left back and things are starting to look ^ if you know what i mean.We must use this window to get that 4th spot while the pool flounder and before city can regroup.

Cathal, Robbie has not been stripped of the captaincy, by all accounts. Here’s the BBC’s take on it…

Apoligies James, for some reason I thought I read it somewhere that he was stripped of his captaincy.

There was certainly plenty of speculation about it wasn’t there? I think we were all kind of expecting it to happen.

Yeah, agree with you there James.

Do you think Keane will leave in January?

If I had to put money on it, I would say no. I think Harry still rates him highly and knows his form could pick up again.

Also – God forbid – an injury to Defoe and suddenly we would look very stupid for getting rid of Robbie. So I think he will want to hang on to him in January.

I’d like to see us move on Hutton, Pav and Bentley though…

Yeah good point, an injury to Defoe and Harry would look ver silly for letting Keane go.

With regards the other players you mentioned, I would be quite surprised if all three of them aren’t on there way out come the new year.

This wont happen there will be only two or possible three players leaving Pavlyuchenko Hutton and Bentley .And it wouldn’t surprise me if we sold no players and bought just one Santos The team would be Gomes Corluka Huddlestone Dawson Bale Lennon Palacios Moderic Kranjcar Defoe Crouch subs Alnwick Jenas Keane Dosantos Santos King Bentley

I presume the Keane-supporters will now interpret our dislike of him as a reaction to this party. Before they blamed his unpopularity on his move to Liverpool. Neither disgression is significant. The player’s useless. Get rid of him, permanently!

Liverpool need money to sack Benitez. Now is the perfect time for Spurs to swoop in for Lucas. Cracking player, could really help Spurs push into the top 4.

Hutton & Bentley are both excellent players but it never worked out for them at Spurs, or at least hasn’t so far.

£17m on Bentley was a big big price to pay, I’d take him on loan at Newcastle though it ye really wanted to get rid of him :D

Without a doubt the most over-rated,over hyped played in Prem history, one good game in 8 and does something very good and his agent obviously is fantastic…8 moves in 11 yrs for many many millions…wonder how much they have both made out of them ????….are all these manager really going to get rid of a good player so quickly ??? NO….its because he is shite.
Slow, cant head, cant tackle, and take away his pens that he hAS WORMED HIS WAY INTO TAKING AT ALL HIS CLUBS AND CHECK OUT HIS GOALS TO GAMES RATIO.2nd only to Mr Benitez in bluffing the public….it amazes me how gullible people are.(ps i have sudied him live many many times and its worse when you can see the whole pitch as opposed to what you just see on the box….
