Are Arsenal Gunner win the league?

Posted by Cathal Breathnach on December 30, 2009 | 7 Comments

Arsene WengerI have to admit, Arsenal’s performance impressed me tonight.

Arsene Wenger’s men saw-off the Premier League’s bottom side Portsmouth 4-1 to move to within four points of leaders Chelsea with a game in hand.

The reason why I was so impressed with tonight’s result was down to the fact that they comfortably beat a side who beat Liverpool 2-0 just two weeks ago and they did it without a few key men, ie, Cesc Fabregas. The performance of Aaron Ramsey was superb. The young Welsh midfielder looked so comfortable with the ball at his feet and his goal was simply world class.

January is bound to see a few arrivals at the Emirates and I believe if Wenger brings the right men in, Arsenal look great value at 10/3 to win their first title in six years this time around. I must admit, a month ago I thought Chelsea looked unstoppable this season, however I am beginning to think Arsenal may push them all the way.

What do you think? Are Arsenal gunner win the league this season? Comments below please.

yes they will win it if wenger signs at least 2 good players, this is the best chance they will ever get, so c’mon arsene!

We can only hope that the dark side will crumble and die… and that the good side will prevail

Hughes 2nd tackle shd have been awarded a red card. Instead the ref gave him a talk in.I believe for Arsenal to win the title the refs must clamp down on this sort of players.
It wouldn’t surprise me 50 years down the road some refs own up that they have been helping a certain rfc to win title afte title evry year.

I agree with Arrowsmith regarding the role of the referee. In some games the referee gives a
penalty .I refer to the Villa Pool game. The ball seemd to have hit the Pool defender. However no penalty was awarded.
Going back to OT when Ashvin was syced down by
Fletcher a clear penalty shd have been given.later the Russian scored a goal. My take is if a penalty were awarded the defender would have been give a yellow.
It could have changed the complexion of the games. That’s why the ref is crucial guy. in the cl tackles are automatically given a yellow and I strongly believed that Hughes would have been sent off.
It’s about time epl refs are brought in line with cl refs. There would be some standardisation of the fouls/tackles which called for unishment. I feel Arsenal have a harder task to win the epl than the cl.
One final note. Two footed lunges shd result in an automatic rc. No ifs and buts. But again you never know. Some refs could be on the take to nhelp cian trams win.

    corrrection to my last sentence.

Some refs could be on the take to help certain teams win.
