One player Liverpool need to sign to finish in the Top 4 this season

The transfer window is now open and one club who are featuring quite a bit in the gossip columns today is Liverpool.
The Merseyside club are currently sitting 7th in the Premier League table and Rafa Benitez knows anything less than a top 4 finish this season will probably result in his sacking.
Liverpool have today been linked with January moves for Real Madrid striker Ruud Van Nistelrooy, Tottenham’s Roman Pavlyuchenko, Atletico Madrid winger Maxi Rodriguez and Olympiakos defender Vasilis Torosidis, however there have been many other names have also been linked with moves to Anfield in recent weeks.
We are keen to hear which player you think Liverpool need to sign this month to finish in the top 4 this season. Feel free to leave your comments below.
Personally I think Liverpool would need to sign someone like David Villa to have any chance of finishing in the top 4 this season, however I don’t think that is going to happen.

liverpool need a good right winger kuyt is a old man now he’s got shit control on the ball and doesnt have a flare because he”s too solid. ruud van nisterlroy would help torres because he;s more experienced than ngog and scott parker from west ham because lucas isnt there yet and you dont know if mashc can survive a match without getting sent off.

No one! Bring back Nemeth and premote Pacheco. Why we don’t give Pacheco a run in the team is beyond me, he has fantastic skills and can produce a killer pass as well as score great goals. Go on give the lad a chance!

If it is one player I would want it to be Cassano, but that is withaut selling Babel!
Players that could leave are Voronin, Dosena
and Degen – they don’t play much anyway.
But if they sell Babel they should get Mata or someone alse that can play in the wing.

The players we really need are way out of our reach.
We need turan and mata for starters, but thats 30m combined. With those 2 we would never be short of atacking flair, as we have been lately.
I agree re the youth players, lets give pacheco, ecclestone,kelly a go.

I think Rafa should bring in Roman Pavlyuchenko and Maxi Rodriguez into Liverpool squad. But bring a good player without a correct formation is useless. So my suggestion is Rafa back to a normal formation (4-4-2) Torres partner with kuyt or Pavlyuchenko up front and get Gerrad back to attacking midfield roll. Maxi play in wright midfield , Bennayoun play in a left midfield and Mesharano or Aqualani play as a defensive midfielder. Rafa also must change the Zonal zone marking to man to man marking cause a lot of goals is coming from poor marking by Liverpool defence.

Should try sign Pandev he’s available on a free that his contract was terminated.

I have said it for millions of times. We desperately need David villa to partner Torres we need a highly skilful right (maxi rodriguez)and left (David Silva)wingers a right back (?)and possibly possibly a new centre half either Simon kjear or the highly talented brazillian Hernanes.we need to urgently ship out Degen,Dossena,Lucas,babel,Itandje,and the likes and as rightly said get that class player Nemeth and Pacheco a regular chance.My team would read :1pepe reina,2insua3johnson4 kjear5Hernanes6mascherano7maxi8 capt GERRARD9Torres10Villa11Silva reserves skyrtel Agger aquilani he’ll need another 5 years to heal properly aurelio Kuyt ngog

Liverpool need to sign more than 1 player! There’s too many poor players in their squad to make them a top 4 side. They need a clear out and to start building again. With Albert Riera out they lack width. They don’t have a proper right winger, so that would be a good place to start. Other than that, they are making a good start by looking for another striker. van Nistelrooy’s fitness must be a concern though. Benni McCarthy has been linked to Celtic for £2,500,000 – even Liverpool can afford that and he would instantly be their 2nd best striker. He would be a sensible January signing, but they need more than 1 player to join if they want to make a serious top 4 challenge.
