Harry Redknapp interested in bringing La Liga striker to the Lane

Ruud Van Nistelrooy is a wanted man.

Stoke City, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal and Blackburn have all, in recent weeks, been linked with a potential January move for the Real Madrid man, however a new name entered the frame today.

Tottenham. Yes, Harry Redknapp has today admitted he would be interested in bringing Van Nistelrooy back to the Premier League if a deal could be done.

Speaking earlier today, Redknapp had this to say when asked about the possibility of Van Nistelrooy becoming a Tottenham player : “He is interesting. I wouldn’t sit here and say it isn’t of interest but again it would depend what the deal is because the chairman would deal with that side of the business.

“But he is an interesting player. He was a fantastic player in England and he has been a great player over the years and is a great goalscorer and if he was available it could be of interest and that’s about as far as it’s gone.”

Redknapp currently has four strikers at his disposal in the form of Jermain Defoe, Robbie Keane, Peter Crouch and Roman Pavlyuchenko, however with the latter looking to leave White Hart Lane, a new striker is understood to be one of Redknapp’s main priorities during this window.

I have said it once, and I’ll say it again, Ruud Van Nistelrooy is still a good player who could still do a job in the Premier League. I know he’s 33 now but you don’t need to be young to score goals. During his time at Manchester United, he proved he is a natural goalscorer and in my opinion, he would be a great addition to the Spurs squad.

Having said all that, I can’t see Van Nistelrooy getting much of a game at Spurs considering all the strikers currently at the club. In this, a World Cup year, Ruud knows he needs to get some first team football under his belt if is to have any chance of making the Dutch squad who make the trip to South Africa this summer.

So, what do you think?  Comments below please.

Can’t see it happening as Pava has to go first before we can aggree it so that’s this rumour bust.

The other option is sell Keane and keep Pava till the summer and try selling him then ,that way we could buy as i bet there would be buyers for Keane.

He would be a fantastic signing, although the only problem might be his wages, which I would have thought would be in the £100k region, which is quite a risk given his injury problems. But he could undoubtedly score a heck of a lot. If Spurs land him, I am even more confident of my bet they’ll finish 4th, but it’s not for everyone
