Arsenal badly need a new striker if they are to win anything

It was game that highlighted the fact that Arsenal badly need a new striker if they are to win anything this season.
Manchester United ran out 3-1 winners at the Emirates this afternoon and to tell you the truth, Sir Alex Ferguson’s men could have scored more than 3.
Arsene Wenger’s men created several chances throughout the 90 minutes, however there finishing really wasn’t up to scratch today, leaving myself and many others wondering just why Arsenal haven’t signed a new striker during this transfer window?
Before the window opened back on the 1st of January, it was thought that Wenger was looking to bring a new frontman to the club but for whatever reasons nothing has materialised. With just under 24 hours to go, it is unlikely that Arsenal fans will be welcoming a new striker to the club tomorrow.
Today has seen the north London club linked with a number of strikers including Valencia’s David Villa and Bordeaux’ Marouane Chamakh, however I personally think signing AC Milan striker Klaas Jan Huntelaar on a six-month loan deal could/would be an unbelievable bit of business.
The Dutch striker is hungry to play in this, a World Cup year and let’s be honest, he’s not going to be playing much at the San Siro if he stays.
I’m curious to hear what you Gunners have to say on this one. Comments below please.

Wrong!!! That useless lump in goal needs to go and then we can consider all other areas

we were short in front of goal but that was down to cesc and arshavin having poor games. We have to look at defense. Manure’s 2nd goal – 5 arsenal defenders couldn’t stop the run of rooney….ridiculous. Also, ALMUNIA HAS GOT TO GO. He has never been good enough on a consistent basis and needs to be changed. I am truly gutted at that performance.

what arsenal needs is a SOLID experienced keeper. they say good keepers can single-handedly win games. we’ve given alumunia too many chances to prove himself but he never fails to disappoint, esp in big games.
in arshavin, roscisky, nasri, fab, etc; we’re not seriously lacking in attacking options. but we are more in need a keeper who can help get things under control, organize and communicate effectively.

a striker? how does a team containing Denilson Allmunia Walcott Eduardo to name but a few, ever expect to win anything, what a joke Wenger has become with his constant lies and excuses, a striker you say, I say a miracle. Wengers sadly past it now.

hello everyone. I watched the match today as an arsenal supporter. i thought it was just as bad as the game against chelsea. as i said then and i will say it now , our so called captain is not a real leader. today all i saw was a guy who never tried an inch till maybe 5 minutes to go. his passing was slow, not accurate. and his attitude and enthusiasm on the pitch was terrible. he walked around with his head down all the time. denilso should not have started. this team was supposed to have been much better than last year. in fact its just as bad. arsene mad bad decisions today. nasri should not have started. unless he started in holding midfield position instead off denilson. they should have plaed with either walcot or eboue on the right with rosicky on the left. the team looked without any ideas. they were so so poor. this team will never win anything. not while this manager is so stubborn. arsenal need a powerful midfielder and a big tall one at that. also our keeper is one off the worst in the league and if arsene wants to ruin our season by sticking with these idiots in the team then this team will not be any good. i dont think our back 4 are any way near as good as what some people say they are. clichy is a real problem. sagna is playing poorly , the two guys in the center are playin ok. but only when they go 2 – 0 down. i could see this team finishing outside top four. we have no leaders , no strikers, no fast wingers that are fit. no goal keeper. just not good enough.
make this the arsenal team arsene. u say u have money then do something andd stop being a twat.

Someone is lying to us supporters, is it the board or is it the manager? For the past 4-5 years we have heard AW say that we are a couple of players short only to turn around in the transfer window and then say that we don’t need anyone. The board says we have money and the boss says we don’t. We have allowed teams to catch up on us, missed opportunities to sign quality and even criticise other teams for playing defensively against us. It is tiring to hear the same words about our players having determination when we can’t even bring home The Carling Cup. Our team is lacking players yet all we do is bring in teenagers who can’t cut it on the field with adults. WHAT SAY YOU MR CHAIRMAN? Put some of the money that we spend week in and week out back into the side or watch a mass exodus of supporters from your stands.

its very disappointn to see how many chances we created we created as much as they do the difference was a quality striker not half baked striker nor a midfielder thats coverted to be a striker thy did not outplay us they only out-score us we need a striker but wenger wont buy im so angry to see this lost ,and i know the same will happen with chevski

We are the true pretenders! We pretend we’re gonna win the league, we pretend we’re gonna put up a fight against the rest of the “Top 4″ AND we pretend we’re gonna sign a big name superstar to help our cause.
Why do we believe all of Wenger’s lies every year?
Ever since Henry and co left our club we have been the also rans and I’m sick of it.
I’m sorry to say, but until we sign some players to help us who the league, all we’ll be doing is developing young players for other clubs. Don’t be suprised if we see the likes of Fabregas, Nasri and co walk away from our poor excuse of a team and go on to bigger and better things while Wenger brings in more 15yo’s and fills the pockets of the club and keeps calling us “self sufficient”. By the time project youth wins the league, Wenger will be in a pine box buried 6ft under ground.
Stop lying to us Arsene and spend that cash you’ve been sitting on all season.
In Arsene we trust, like fuck I do!!!

As a fan, there is NOTHING that I look forward to more than our games against United. They are the highlight of my year. After being robbed of one and then thoroughly out classed, I’m not sure what to say. I am frustrated but in complete shock. This cannot be Arsenal, the team that went unbeaten only 5 years ago.
January 31st, 2010 @ 6:45 pm
Whatever we say will not change the outcome of anything. The man who makes the decision is Arsene Wenger. He has turned Arsenal to mugs. How can we expect to win big games with such an elephant in goal. He needs to be put down.
Your first line of defence is your goalie and if you don’t have one then you’re screwed. The 3rd goal by Park, scored right through the heart of our defence and right through the middle of the net says it all. It’s like having an empty net.
Almunia was seriously exposed today and I’m glad it happened. You cannot blag your way to the title.

We are fine as we are

We can never win anything if Densilson continue to play for us. Enough said.
January 31st, 2010 @ 7:02 pm
NO nO nO hUNTELAAR. We need pace, we need strength. We had adebayor. AC Milan, Barca, even Chelsea were intrested in him and we sold him to Man City who ironically scored today. The best teams need at least 1 world class CF to win big games.
Ibrahimovich
Torres
Rooney
Drogba

I thnk 2b sincere the bggest problem @arsenal is choice of players 4specific games thatz where united outclass us. SAF always plays park rafael nani rooney &fletcher why? They per4om wel against us wenger with is progmmed team 4this yrs avnt identfied those who cant play certain games 2rotate.denlison 4 one is poor in tense games so is clichy alumunia out of the 5goals conceded against us by man u 2are 2his credt playing a 5th defender instead of a goalie is beta in futbo u build pples carrier in training &get rsult in matches nt vice versa
January 31st, 2010 @ 7:14 pm
Arsene wenger is the most stupid manager in premiership.unless he sign a striker,he can never win second division league in 50 years time.Infact he must be sacked before is too late
January 31st, 2010 @ 7:17 pm
We need to get rid of the likes of Denilson and Almunia. Wenger should buy world class striker. We sell our best players only to invest in Kids who cannot win trophies. Wenger must gooooo!!
January 31st, 2010 @ 7:28 pm
ARSENAL DC WILL NEVER WIN ANY TROPHY IN WINGERS ERA, HIS CURRENT ASSEMBLED TEAM IS THE WORST IN ARSENAL’S HISTORY. THEY ARE A COLLECTION OF LOUSY, SHORT, WEAK, SELFISH, PLAYERS WHO HAVE NO DETERMINATION AT ALL.
ALL SAID, DENILSON , BENDTNER, ALUMNI, CLICHY, EBOUE, ROSICKY, SYLIVESTRE, SHOULD GO AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
WENGER SHOULD GO AS FAST AS POSSIBLE.
SILENT STAN SHOULD BUY AFC AND DEMAND WENGER FOR RESULTS, THE CURRENT BORD OF DIRECTORS ARE FINANCE ORIENTED, NOT TROPHIES.
ARSHAVIN SHOULD BE BENCHED AND INSTALL WALCOTTE AND RAMSEY. PLZ WENGER GET OUT OF ARSENAL, WE ARE TIRED OF YOU. WE DON’T WANT YOU, WE JUST FEEL ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.

No chance of any praise for united even though they were unbelieveable? Put it down to arsenal being weak… TYPICAL ducking football corner.
January 31st, 2010 @ 7:58 pm
Dan – United were brilliant today, no doubt about it. But lets be perfectyly honest, Arsenal were weak.
I don’t know why you bother coming on here to slag Football Corner just because I decided not to write an article about Man United being brilliant again.

i totally agree with every comment above, arsenal are the only big name team that wont spend a peny. there is always a time and a place. and this transfer window was the time for arsene to buy a few top players and give the team the boost it needs. i see a comment above saying that fabregas nasri and co will leave. where they going to go, nasri is not a winger and is player there all the time,. rosicky is not a winger anymore. the two of them are pretty slow and not too energetic. nasri should play where denilson plays. then the team would be decent. last year in this transfer windw arsene bought arshavin. and he was the one that kicked us on. the same would have happened this year especially considering the team is so fragile with injuries at the moment.,
we need a gk, cb, dm, winger, striker.

To answer your question yes Arsenal need a striker as of right now. I would like to have a striker for the future, but if the Gunners want to win anything this year than yes we need to buy. The world class loss of Robin Van Persie is clearly immense. Theo Walcott has had so many injuries that he is not in good form and looks lost when he is out on the pitch. Give him a couple more weeks and he will be looking better, it has been a tough season for him yet. The problem with today’s game can come down to a couple of factors. Denilson is not ready for the big boys of the premier league just yet. Arsenal needed Abou Diaby to help control the midfield and add some size to the squad, his unavalability was felt throughout the ground. Manuel Almunia is not our best goalkeeper. Please Arsene, if you can read this or hear me: Give Lukaz Fabianski a chance. I have seen him produce some great saves in the past and this could inject a little more influence into the team. The last problem I had with the performance today is striker. This is why we clearly need to buy. Arshavin had great moments in the game, but his position is not a central striker and in the latter stages of the game you could see him trying to get more of the ball at his regular position flanked out on the left or right. Nicklas Bendtner is out of form just coming back from injury and in truth I have never liked his game, but at least he gives Arsenal height and he is a striker. I guess I will stick with him since we really don’t have any other choices. It was a bad performance today and it reminded me of the November loss to Chelsea. Let’s hope in a week I won’t have this feeling in my stomach or else the EPL championship is just a dream.
