Manchester United looking to bring Benzema and Milner to Old Trafford?

Posted by on April 2, 2010 | 3 Comments

If you believe what you read in the papers, Manchester United will be busy in the transfer market this summer.

Today sees the Premier League leaders linked with big money moves for Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema and Aston Villa midfielder James Milner.

Sir Alex Ferguson is understood to be  interested in adding to his attacking options during the summer and Benzema’s name is one that has been mentioned  time and time again.

The French international has failed to make much of an impact at the Real since joining from Lyon for a massive £30 million last summer. Before Benzema moved to the Bernabeu, there was talk that the 22-year old would join United, however for whatever reasons, that never happened.

Meanwhile, Aston Villa’s James Milner is another name being linked with a move to Old Trafford. The England international has been in superb form this season and now looks certain to be a part of Fabio Capello’s World Cup squad.

Milner, 24, has spent the last 2 years at Villa Park, establishing himself as one of the best wingers in the country. Villa boss Martin O’Neill has moved quickly to deny rumours that Milner could be on his way to United by branding speculation “ludicrous”.

I’m not sure what to think of these rumours. As much as I would love to see Benzema playing in the Premier League, I’m not convinced he wants to move to England. With Milner, I personally believe he will spend another season at Villa before leaving for United.

i was’nt really bothered about the prospect of benzema joining utd (after all he snubbed the opportunity to play for utd last time round) – oh man! to be in that position!

anyway I thought – fkc him! – however; when looking at this fantasy story where milner and benz both arrive at utd then the mouth waters!

my opinion – losing out on essien was a big loss for us – but by adding milner and kb then imagine the new power that would be injected – probably enough to cover for an injured rooney and departed despicable tezev (spit – my main gripe here is his obsession with slating utd – move on apache!) not to mention all of them firing at once!

and in a total dreamworld then the skillfull icing on the cake would be aguero or at a push villa but is it really greegy to want a cmf as well – gourcuff perhaps?

Whatever reason…..I’ll tell you the reason.
He probably sees Man Utd for what you are and thats a feeder club for Real Madrid. We fool ourselves in thinking this is the best league with the best players. Spain is the place to play. Deep down we all know it, the players know it.

The whole thing about United being a feeder club for Real Madrid is an interesting way of looking at it.
You could also consider them a sort of garbage can, with the exception of CR7, willing to pay huge money for players who fall out of favour at United. None of the players who moved to Real from United have had close to the equvilant success, of staying at Old Trafford in the same period – domestic OR European. And that’s a fact;)
