Is David James the man to join Manchester City in emergency loan deal?

Before I begin, this really hasn’t been mooted anywhere but now that Manchester City have written to the FA asking for permission to bring in a keeper on an emergency loan deal, I really think this could happen.
Portsmouth keeper David James used to play for Manchester City and there is no denying he is still a good goalkeeper at the grand age of 39. With 3 massive games coming up for City, they obviously need a solid, reliable keeper to play in their remaining games and I think James is the man.
Manchester City would have no problem throwing Pompey a few quid for James and there is no doubt the south coast club could do with a few more pound coins. James spent 2 years at Eastlands and I for one feel he could do a job for City in this all important run-in.
The only thing that may prevent the move is Portsmouth’s FA Cup final which takes place a week after the Premier League campaign finishes.
I really am keen to hear what you have to say on this. Comments below please.

Plausible, City signed a relatively unknown South American goalkeeper called David González Giraldo in January. He has a full Columbian cap, why don’t they give him a try?

Jesus, just get someone half decent between the posts! It’s too risky leavin Nielsen on his own. Look what happened Foster at United this season, was supposed to be the next England keeper and was a disaster when he got his minutes on the pitch. Way too risky!

hes unjured i think-the fa will say that the chap who’ve theyve got from faroe is an international be it of a lowly ranked nation-its citys fault that they have spent millions and dont have a decent back up keeper fit.birmingham, hart ,the fa and fifa ALL have to agree that hart can return now and i cant see big eck agreeing to that-can you city will have to just take it on the chin-id be amazed at the fa etc being sympathetuc after they have spent more than the entire prem and most of the divisions put together and not to have a goaly fit.no one made them buy some unknown from faroe islands did they?!

As soon as Shay Given went down injured, that was my first thought.
I’m a pompey supporter and yes we could do with the money BUT David will have to think long and hard about this.
FA Cup Final or (Hard To Say This) top flight football for the next couple of years???
