Arsenal ready to make cheeky £5 million bid for England midfielder?

Posted by on May 10, 2010 | 8 Comments

Plenty of names have been linked with a move to Arsenal in recent weeks and today sees another name enter Manchester City midfielder Shaun Wright-Phillips

The 29-year old has failed to nail down at first team place at City under new boss Roberto Mancini and with the England international currently rejecting the offer of a new contract at Eastlands, there is a strong possibility that Wright-Phillips could be on the move this summer.

Arsene Wenger will no doubt have money to spend when the transfer window opens in July but whether or not the Frenchman decides to splash the cash is the big question.

There is no doubt Wenger needs to spend if Arsenal are to be considered genuine title contenders for next season and personally, I think signing Wright-Phillips wouldn’t be a bad move at all.

For a player who still clearly has plenty of ability, I reckon Wright-Phillips would prove terrific value for money at the rumoured £5 million. It would be interesting to see if Arsenal do make a bid of £5 million, would Manchester City accept.

£5 million might be good value but I’d rather Hazard

would be a very good signing as he would create a lot for chamak and walcott can be used as a impact sub. he could learn so much from swp.

at least walcott can learn some tricks and knows he’s got to compete to be the first 11

and at 29, swp could at least give us 2 to 3 good years so 5m would be fair; after that, don’t expect much re-sale value though

lastly, with chamakh in supposedly, we’d need someone who could cross more than 5 of 10 times to take advantage of his good headers (again, allegedly good)…

in any case, i’d rather waste 5m on swp than another 17 or 18 year old who couldn’t produce on the pitch, right the f now

Good deal if AW can get SWP. He will prove 2be a good buy. SWP is a good player who can be useful to Arsenal wit the arrival of chamak. He runs, dribbles, and skillful wit good mentality. I honestly support ‘the buy’.
