Surely Cesc Fabregas is worth more than the £37.6 million Barcelona are prepared to offer

I read somewhere today that the new Barcelona president, Sandro Rossel, has set a limit of €45 million (which is roughly worth about £37.6 million) on the Spanish giants bid to bring Cesc Fabregas to the Camp Nou.
The Arsenal captain has been strongly linked with a move to the club where it all began for him for several weeks now but as of yet, nothing has been agreed between the two clubs.
Arsene Wenger is no doubt desperate to keep Fabregas at the Emirates but if he is to lose the Spanish midfielder in the coming weeks, surely he should get more than the suggested £37.6 million.
If Cristiano Ronaldo is worth £80 million, then surely Fabregas is worth at least £50 million. I would be shocked if Arsenal were to accept anything less than £50 million for a player who is, without doubt, one of the best in the world.
What do you think? How much is Fabregas worth? Comments below please.

When are the comedians at Barca going to get the message? Cesc is NOT for sale. The blogs, tabloids, Barca run media. their slimey players, current and soon to be ex-presidents at that grubby club, the disgustingly murky British media, can bandy about any figure they like, Cesc Fabregas IS NOT FOR SALE! NO NEGOTIATION. The Mighty Arsenal made that point clear weeks ago,

He’s worth what the market will pay for him. Anyone who has sold a house know this to be true — you can look at recent sales of comparable houses, but what you end up getting, or paying, can vary thanks to a lot of things.
In this case, if Cesc has said he wants to go this year, and only to Barca, then he has severely limited his value, since Arsenal could get more if there were a true auction for this player.
Barca probably can’t pay what they’d have to pay in the open market, and also have other, more pressing needs — putting aside their total lack of business acumen or ethics. In many ways, Cesc’s ultimatum puts them over a barrel, too. if he wants to go now, and they can’t make a robust offer for him, they risk alienating him. Its one thing for a 19-year old to say he wants to end up at Barca, but another when he is a mature 23 or 24 years old — it may then mean the alternative to a last big MLS payday, or the last stage in a journey that will next proceed to Milan, for example.

Fact – Fabregas will only consider a move to Barcelona. Fact – Arsenal have stated he is not for sale.
For that to change, Fabregas will need to submit a transfer request. In so doing he’ll have to consider a move to somewhere other tan Barcelona, and Arsenal will achieve ‘market value’ in the ensueing auction.
Only then might Fabregas gain a true fix on reality, and see that his beloved Barca will not, likely can not, afford him.

Nick, that’s completely wrong. Real Madrid wanted Ronaldo and were the only club in for him. Every other club knew they were going to pay stupid money and so it was a one-horse race. There were definitely murmurings of Ronaldo wanting to leave (unlike Cesc who, contrary to what you say, HAS NOT said anything recently and other times has only ever pledged staying in London), and he has years left on his contract. Arsenal can ask for silly money or refuse to sell. Same as your house -buying analogy. Just because you won’t get the price you want does not mean you’re held to selling.

£50 mill for a player so great he has never won anything, so great he doesn’t start for the Spanish first team
£30 mill at the very most. How can you call him world class when he has achieved nothing.
June 17th, 2010 @ 1:26 AM
Think Wenger needs to play hardball here myself.
If Fabregas is allowed to leave on the cheap it will make Arsenal start to look like a feeder club, for Europe’s so-called elite.
Wenger needs to stand firm and get the fee he wants, or demand an up and coming Barca youngster in exchange, not a reject like Toure.
He needs to be seen to be calling the shots.

barca will make him a BENCHWARMER same thing happened with helb and henry!!!!!!!!!
is cesc insane not noticed they are favouring busquits before him in spain squad!
he is moving to barca to ruin his career!!!!!
god save him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Aicher – Who you trying to kid? £30 million for Cesc! He could help you to win things at Barca for 6 years and still be sold for that. The things you and Barca come out with are insulting to Cesc. He needs to stay at a club who actually value him and not 1 that simply wants to use him for political purposes. Oh and by the way; He aint for sale.

June 17th, 2010 @ 4:02 AM
just sell fab at that cost plus valdes and dani alves. it is because arsenal also has aoron ramsey to fill that pos.. honestly.. ramsey has ability to close that gap.
June 17th, 2010 @ 7:28 AM
50 mil at least, come on if ibrahimovic is worth 45 mil, fabregas is easily worth 50 mil
June 17th, 2010 @ 8:11 AM
The point being that they dont really NEED him.Of course he’s worth significantly more than Yaya Toure (who it appears has sold to Citeh for £29m).It’s a case of their eyes being bigger than their stomach! Arsenal could be left with either a de-motivated captain (again) or be forced to sell for a value which makes his appropriate replacement virtually impossible.
June 17th, 2010 @ 8:41 AM
HE IS PRICELESS. WHAT PRICE CAN WE ACCEPT FOR HIM? CONSIDERING HIS AGE AND HIS MATURITY INTO A GOAL SCORING MIDDLE FIELDER HE IS EQUAL TO THE POUNDS 80 MILLION REAL PAID FOR CHRISTIANO. SO BARCA MUST PAY OR IF THEY ARE BROKE LIKE WE UNDERSTAND HEAVILY LADEN WITH DEBT LET THEM FORGET.
June 17th, 2010 @ 5:46 PM
Barca want 45 mil for Ibrahamivic, 35 mil for Yaya Toure who they deem not good enough they play for them yet Fabregas who has his whole career in front of him and is a much better player they only offer 30 mil.
I’ve lost all respect for Barca. Arsenal should refuse to do business with Barca no matter what player is involved full stop ! Then they might finally get the message !
