Arsenal and Manchester United prepare to battle it out for £20 million World Cup sensation

Posted by on June 26, 2010 | 14 Comments

Luis Suarez has, without doubt, been one of the player’s of the tournament at this summer’s World Cup in South Africa and there is now growing speculation that the Ajax striker could be on his way to the Premier League in the coming weeks.

The Uruguayan international scored twice for his country this afternoon to help them reach the quarter-finals of the World Cup for the first time since 1966.

Suarez, 23, scored an incredible 49 goals for Ajax last season and is now currently the joint top scorer at the World Cup with 3 goals in his 4 games.

It is understood that Ajax will accept nothing less than £20 million for Suarez and to be honest, I reckon he is well worth that. Both Arsenal and Manchester United have been linked with Suarez in recent weeks but as of yet, nothing has materialised.

The next few weeks should be fascinating with regards the future of the impressive striker and I for one would love to see Suarez playing Premier League football next season.

What do you think? Is Suarez worth the rumoured £20 million? Comments below please.

Anyone remember Afonso Alves. Just because you score a shed load in the Dutch league doesn’t make you the next ruud. This guy isn’t good enough for old Trafford. Two goals in one game and suddenly he’s a god, come on. There’s only one player in the Uruguay squad who has shone this tournament and he already failed to make the grade at ot once

Kuyt, Alves and Kezman were phenomenal in Holland, less than ordinary in the Premier League! It takes a certain type of player to make it in England and I don’t think Suarez is that player.
