Selling Nigel de Jong would be a huge mistake

Posted by on June 27, 2010 | 5 Comments

It has been claimed today that Manchester City will look to sell Nigel de Jong this summer with Barcelona midfielder Yaya Toure apparently on the brink of moving to Eastlands.

City boss Roberto Mancini is ready to offload a number of first team players once the transfer window opens next week and De Jong may be one of the first players to go.

De Jong, 25, has become an instant fan favourite at Eastlands since joining the club for a fee of £16 million from Hamburg back in 2009. However, the Dutch international is one of quite a number of central midfielders at City and there is now speculation that Mancini now deems his surplus to requirements.

Personally, I believe De Jong is one of the best midfielders, not just at City, but in the Premier League. He wears his heart of his sleeve and that is one of the reasons why the City fans regard him so highly. In my opinion, it would be a huge mistake if City decided to sell De Jong because there is no doubt in my mind that his best years are still to come.

I think this speculation os aload of b*llocks. Looking at the source The Sunday Mirror, they have a history of anti City destabilising stories and this is just some bone idel ManUre supporting journo making sh*t up by the looks of it. More likley to leave will be fringle players and Stevie Ireland who quite clearly has hid head up his ar*e and shuold be presuaded to stay.Next season we are otebially loking at a 60 game season and de Jong will play a large part in this no doubt.

If we sell De Jong i would say that Mancini has gone nuts. But knowing Mancini’s requests from his players, Jong,Tevez and Zaba as well as Bellers would be last to go. Micahs main problem which has kept out is quite that, his lack of commitment. But yet again, i would never consider selling him since i regard him as the best prospect for England at right back if he solves this minor issue.

De Jong is god like at Eastlands, if anything we will sell Barry before De Jong. This is tosh, its probably from the same guy who is suggesting we are in for Reto Zeigler (couldn’t make it at Spurs), Agbonlahor, etc!!!! My mates mam is up for sale and apparently City are after her as well because she makes a mean breakfast and brew!!!!!!

City must keep De Jong. He is quality and is admired by fans and players alike. A true warrior. It would be madness to sell him.
