Liverpool and Tottenham still desperate to sign England midfielder

Liverpool and Tottenham are still both keen to sign Joe Cole according to today’s papers.
The former Chelsea midfielder has yet to find a new club after his contract ran out at Stamford Bridge and Roy Hodgson and Harry Redknapp remain in the race to sign the 28-year old.
Liverpool are desperate to sign a new midfielder after Yossi Benayoun joined Chelsea last week and Cole is seen by many as the perfect replacement for the Israeli.
Tottenham, meanwhile, don’t really need a midfielder but Redknapp also fancies Cole (as Sky Sports News said the other night) and there remains a strong chance that the former West Ham player will opt for a move to White Hart Lane.
There is no doubt that whoever does eventually get their hands on Cole will be getting a player of real quality. It was quite a surprise, for me anyway, to see Chelsea let Cole go and I reckon they may regret their decision some time in the near future.

What the hell is the point of this worthless piece of garbage that has been recycling for so long now?

It’s probably a position where we are strongest. Someone to keep Modric on his toes? I don’t know… Bale, Modric, Palacios, Lennon – although saying that, there were only three games last season when they were all fit – so maybe we DO need Cole. I don’t think he’s going to go to a club in decline, I think Liverpool would be lucky to get him.

If he could stay fit, it would be a good signing.
Having only played a handful of games in each of the last two seasons, I’m not surprised the blue scum let him go. Perhaps they know something that might cost us £100k a week for the next 2 or 3 years to find out.
Stay well clear.

He has made clear his desire to play in central midfield, imagine a playmaker that can run, tackle and pass, Perhaps it is Huddlestone who has most to fear.
He would privide the ammunition for modric playing where he is best, just behind the forwards.
