Arsenal ready to make stunning £20 million bid for World Cup sensation

Posted by on July 7, 2010 | 15 Comments

Before the World Cup started last month, not many had ever seen the fella on the right play football but just three weeks later and Mesut Ozil is now a household name around the world.

The German midfielder has been, without doubt, one of, if not the, player of the tournament in South Africa and there are reports today claiming Arsenal are ready to make a £20 million bid to bring the Werder Bremen man to the Emirates. (Daily Star)

Over the past few days and weeks Ozil has been linked with a whole host of clubs including Barcelona, Manchester City, Chelsea and of course Arsenal and before the World Cup even began, there was talk that Real Madrid and Juventus were also interested in the 21-year old.

Arsene Wenger, as we all know, is keen to bolster his squad before the new Premier League season kicks-off in about a months time and Ozil is now seen as a possible addition. With Barcelona still deserperate to sign Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas, Wenger knows he may still have to replace the Spanish midfielder and Ozil could be the man to fill his shoes.

Like many others, I have been impressed by Ozil throughout this World Cup. He has a great footballing brain and there is no doubt that he has a huge future ahead of him. Personally, I would like to see how he would cope with life in the Premier League and I’m sure he would be a welcome signing for the Arsenal fans. Having said that, I would be surprised if Bremen were willing to sell their most prized asset for the rumoured £20 million.

Your website looks nice… the story’s nonsense though. Complete fiction – would love him at Arsenal… Ain’t gonna happen!

Paul – First of all, really appreciate the nice comment about the site. And about Ozil, I wouldn’t rule it out to be honest. Wenger has admired him for a long time and if you believe the reports, he has money to spend this summer so you never know!

It’s a rumor, nothing more. First if all Bremen are not willing to let him go so if he does leave this summer it will be for a higher fee. Also you know damn well that arsene ain’t gonna spend 20million on one player, it’s a fact.

I know it is unlikely we will sign but it has been in the papers and Wenger has been watchin the player for a while so fingers crossed this could happen and as for not spending money on 1 player he did with arshavin and nasri so lets never say never!

why are we emphasizing on this issue? why dont Wenger spend money and win the boys Signeture b4 the big time spender Man city gets him? or does it mean that Wenger dont want to spend such money on him? well as far as Arsenal is concern, the bottom line remains that Is either we buy a Mildfielder like Fabregas who will assist him in the mildfield if he stays in arsenal or one who will replace him if he moves to Barcelona.
