Harry Redknapp believes Tottenham are title contenders but what do you think?

Posted by Cathal Breathnach on July 23, 2010 | 16 Comments

Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp had a few interesting things to say when asked if his side are capable of winning the Premier League title this season.

“I feel we could contend for the title.” said Redknapp. “We have got the players here. We have to aim for it. We could win the championship.”

Redknapp went onto say: “Last year we went in saying we wanted to finish in the top four and if you don’t aim for things, you have no chance.”

I’m curious to know what you Spurs fans and indeed anyone else thinks about this. Are Tottenham really capable of winning the title this season? Comments below please.

Bit creative with the “quotes” chaps. He said if Spurs got 3 players in they could challenge

Harry don’t think Spurs will win the league.

Harry said **if** Spurs could buy 3 top class players where money was no problem then Spurs could win the title.

So not the same thing as has been reported.

Spurs are not going to buy three, or two, or even one world class player this summer because those guys want £90k and Spurs don’t pay that kind of wages.

So no title for Spurs this season. Not for almost anyone else either. Just Man Utd or Chelsea as usual.

I agree with you CC that it’s going to be Chelsea or Man Utd. How high do you reckon Spurs will finish?

How can you publish a quote and then leave out half of what Redknapp actually said.

If we hadn’t lost silly points at home to wolves, stoke, and, hull we could have been challenging this season.

SPURS had an UNLUCKY season, not a lucky one. They lost countless games they should have won, e.g. STOKE at home, WOLVES away. Dropped points at Birmingham etc.

SPURS will be a force now they have the belief to match their quality.

SPURS looked better than City and Chelsea, and matched Arsenal. Outplayed UNITED when they went 1-0 down at Old Trafford, leading to an inevitable equaliser. SPURS demonstrated a lack of belief during the rest of the game at Old Trafford, rather than a lack of quality.

Well apart from the obvious mis-quote, and the fact that we’re not in a position to buy these three outstanding players, we’re reliant in having to off load some of not so outstanding players in order to finance the purchase of probably one perhaps two. We should have picked up points last season, and capitulated away from home against all of the ‘big four’ sides. But there’s a belief that we can progress this season, but that may mean only a 5th position if City do manage to click and perhaps Liverpool begin to gel as a team, so who knows?, we’ve as good a chance as many and not as good as some

I say without fear that Harry is right. Spurs are very definitely title contenders. We should have been closer last year and hopefully this year we will avoid Wolves doing a double over us, for example. Even if we don’t win the title I just love ‘Arry for nailing our colours to the mast in this way. Let’s go for it!

Despite what Harry says or predicts. It should be in every fan’s thought to achieve this. However, I must stress that this depends entirely on the players who have dropped us in previous years
