Liverpool prepare £11 million bid for Tottenham striker?

Posted by on August 2, 2010 | 21 Comments

Liverpool are apparently ready to make an £11 million bid for Tottenham striker Peter Crouch.

The former Liverpool man failed to impress during his time at Anfield. However, new Liverpool boss Roy Hodgson is understood to be keen to bring the lanky frontman back to Merseyside.

Crouch, 29, moved to White Hart Lane last summer for a fee of around £10 million and during his first season at Spurs, he scored just 13 goals.

With the future of Fernando Torres still unclear, Hodgson needs to prepare for the possibilty of the Spaniard leaving the club and Crouch is now seen as a possible acquisition.

I am sure Crouch needs fairly large football shirts for when he is playing. You can find a great range of football shirts from very.co.uk

I’m not sure what you make of the possibility of Crouch moving back to Liverpool. It’s probably a load of rubbish but I’m interested to know what you Liverpool fans have to say about this one. Feel free to leave your comments below.

Why would we pay £1m more then we sold him for, when he hasnt done anything since being at Spurs? Crap story, although Im still very fond of Crouchie.

I was gutted when Crouch left Liverpool after the signing of Keane and even more so when Rafa made an example out of him and sold him 6 months later, because he was bought by the club and not at Rafa’s request ( If you remember Rafa wanted Gareth Barry at £18 mill not another striker at £20 mill). If rumers are to be believed Roy has been handed a £15 mill kitty and with the sale of Riera (4.2) and Yossi (6.0) this gives us £20 Mill to play with. It fair to say Masch is out the door for £25 mill and if most of the funds are gonna be avalible then £45 mill is not a bad figure. £11 for Crouch £13 for Remy and which leaves £21 mill for a new defensive midfielder and a reasonable right winger… maybe Wright-Phillips if he’s cheap enough… well I can dream cant I :-)

‘Failed to impress’? He was my hero. I would have paid £100 a game to watch him. BRING HIM BACK ROY!!

Crouch – U can have him (even though Redknap has today said he is going nowhere). He will look good playing in the Championship next year (2011/2012), it’s not an X player u will be needing by Christmas it’s gonna be a new manager when u finally see what a crap one you have taken on… The man’s only claim to fame was runner up in the Euro League … wow … If u carry on this way u will be the next Leeds … and it could not have happened to a nicer team ..

Harry’s interview for Auntie has just come on the BBC website… “Where’s Crouch going? Not a chance!” was one of the more interesting quotes.

Crouch is great. But if we had that kind of money we should be securing Defour.

I wish the people who want Crouch back had watched him play for Liverpool. Incredibly slow, hopeless in the air and out-muscled by nearly every centre half he came up against. Watching him paired with Torres was painful – he just got in the way. Having been a bit part player at Spurs, why would Liverpool want him? Hodgson has the supporters on board as he is new and deserves a chance. Buy Crouch and his standidng immediately drops.

Peter4Spurs,you’ve let your bitterness and hatred for Liverpool cloud your memory. What has good old Arry ever done apart from 1 FA Cup. In case you can’t remember, I’ll tell you,
    NOTHING!.
As for your stupid comment about the reds being relegated, I’ll take your money if you care to put it where your mouth is. But I suspect you won’t. Remind me, when was the last time Spurs won anything of note?

Crouch doesn’t warrant 11 million. Liverpool sold back Keane for lesser amount than they paid. Now its Spurs turn to return favors. Crouch can be a good back up striker for sure for Liverpool.

Ray, I agree, if I had had my way we would never have got Redknapp, I don’t like the way he wheels and deals and I don’t like his team selection but the plus side is we are a team on the UP not down but this year will be the teller, can we do it again? I think yes, it will be Chelski, Arsehols, Muck United then us in 4th again. Also I am not bitter just like to smerk at the downward plight of the once mighty Liverpool like your supporters did when we fell from grace in the 70′s … that’s the joy of supporting, we all like to see the big boys drop. I still think that yr team have a wally for a manager and he will sink you, I don’t bet but if I did I would go to the bookies as I still think your have a team for the championship not the premier .. but this is all my view.

I love the fact that nearly all tottenham surporters are saying they are now a top four side when they only just scraped in. Can someone explain to me did liverpool have a really bad season( as I keep being told ) or have tottenham now become some all inspiring side that sweeps teams aside because it’s one or the other , it’s not sour grapes the league doesn’t lie and spurs deserve their place in the top flight but don’t get carried away because it all starts again and the reds won’t have no where near as bad a season as just gone .

They can have him for nothing as far as I’m concerned.

    Simply embarrassing.

If a new owner is successful suares (of Adjax) is the option, very young and skillfull. If not, Forlan or Huntller is better. Croach ability is just on air with powerless header,if not for sharing the ball on air. He does not influence by his feet technique. Look Torres health (fitness) is not dependeble.Hence, pleace lob for betterst riker. Do Liverpool buy Totnham’s ‘left over’?
