Barcelona all set to make £22 million bid for Liverpool midfielder

Javier Mascherano has been strongly linked with a move to Inter Milan for much of this summer but it now looks as though the Liverpool midfielder could make his way to Barcelona.
The Argentinian international is desperate to leave Anfield before the transfer window shuts at the end of the month and with Barca still in the market for a new midfielder following their failed pursuit of Arsenal’s Cesc Fabregas, it is suggested the Spanish giants will make a £22 million bid in the coming days.
Inter Milan president, Massimo Moratti today said that at the moment, the current European Champions cannot afford to buy Mascherano. Just hours later, Mascherano, 26, was quoted as saying that he would “love” a move to the Camp Nou and a move is likely to be completed early next week.
It will be fascinating to see how Mascherano adapts to life in La Liga. Even Liverpool fans, who have clearly lost a lot of respect for the player, would have to admit that he is a world class midfielder who deserves to be playing at the very highest level. We would love to hear your thoughts on this one. Simply leave your comments below.

As good as mascherano is at winning the ball in front of the back four. He is very limited as a constructive footballer. He is,I am afraid a 1 trick pony.If we can get £20 million for him, it will be a very good deal.

Mascherano is a world class holding midfielder, but gives very little going forward. Goals per season very poor plus the position is one of the easiest to fill. We could buy a very good holding midfielder with a better goals ratio for half that amount, sad but true.

it will be super signing for barcelona if they could get him

Everyone seems to rate Masch as one of the best holding midfielders in the world and he’s captain of Argentina. But I think for 25m we can find someone who can hold down the midfield, give away far less fouls/cards/suspensions, and maybe even score a few goals – with $$ change!!

liverpool won’t sell him anythng less thn 25m. Everyone knows he was rated 50m a season ago bt the condn is diff now

he is a very good defensive midfielder and it would be a great loss to liverpool but who knows it might open the door for bright young midfielder in the making. he lacks the drive to push the midfielders forward. he plays his game and thats it. he rearly puts others threw and lacks pure vision. as previously mwntioned he is a defensive midfielder. it will be a mwise move to let him go and make some good money on his with a possible player added to it. the teams in europe want him so make go use of the want for hard cash.

22m for Mascherano would be a good deal for everyone involved. I don’t see him worth more than that. While it would be great to get 22m + a player I doubt Barca would do it. Thanks for your time at Anfield Masch and best wishes. We’ve got Poulsen, hopefully Steve Defour in a year’s time, walk on.
