Craig Bellamy to Liverpool?

Posted by on August 10, 2010 | 23 Comments

So Craig Bellamy has today claimed he may quit football if he is not included in Manchester City’s 25-man squad for the new Premier League season.

The Welsh striker has already been heavily linked with a move away from Eastlands with Tottenham and several others believed to be interested but what about a surprise move back to Liverpool.

I know a lot of Liverpool fans never wanted to see Bellamy leave Anfield when he did back in 2007 so should Roy Hodgson make a move for the 31-year old now?

Personally, I am a huge fan of Bellamy’s and I honestly believe he is one of the best players in the Premier League. He is far too good to be sitting on the bench every week and for his sake, I hope he leaves City. With Liverpool still on the look-out for a new striker, I believe this makes perfect sense.

NO WAY!!!! He was kicked out of the club in the first place for swinging a golf club back at Riise??? Do you not remember that?

We should get him. Would be a perfect match for Torres.

“I know alot of Liverpool fans never wanted to se Bellamy leave”. I suggest that you have never been to Anfield. We were very pleased that this trouble maker left. Perhaps the ‘fans’ who gather to watch the match in your pub (wherever that is) weren’t happy, but their views, like yours, are meaningless.

He’s a decent footballer. If he can work out a pay-for-play kind of deal, it might make sense as cover for Torres.

Would give him a bonus for swinging a golf club at Fergie’s nose.

Marshy what an arrogant pompous little ponce u are, a question was put forward all you have to do is give a civil response, put on your Man U jersey and piss off up there your attitude is more suitable to the Mancs. In answer to the article I was never a great fan due to Bellamy’s troublesome streak on and off the pitch but if other targets do not materialise I would gladly have him in the team ahead of Ngog.

Well Brian, hold on there! I happen to be a Scouser and a season ticket holder. Still, what’s that, when Sky watching is as as valid? I simply said that Bellamy was not of a standard to represent Liverpool FC, either as a footballer or a man – and he wasn’t.

Well marshy I’m born and bred in Kirby and have been a season ticket holder for 12 years however I don’t appreciate your attitude towards fellow reds. You are inferring reds fans opinions who are not from Merseyside count less than yours, these fans shell out 5 times more money than you or I do to support our team and their opinions are as valid as anyone elses.

Everyone deserves a second chance and so does Bellamy, we need experienced quality players and a bigger squad and quality bench. I think Roy would get more out of Belammy than Rafa did, and i think we could get him on loan initially……YNWA

Here, here Brian. I have followed the Reds for 27 years now since leaving Liverpool in 1983, and though i am on the otherside of the world i think it doesn’t mean mine, or anyone else’s opinion is anymore or less than that of a regular Anfield patron (we’re just more jealous we can’t get the match really)

I don’t think Bellamy is any answer for us really. A quick squad depth fix if anything. Confucious say – It’s hard to move forward if you keep turning around to pick up what you’ve left behind you.

Looking forward to topping the Gunners this weekend.

    Hello Cathal

Yes, I am tired of seeing Fernando up front alone. Then getting mugged every time he is on the ball with no one to lay off to.
Meanwhile the refs just watch. No wonder he is out hurt so much of the time.
The one striker deal is not our best option.
It is good to see our new manager using more than one lonely striker.

Fair play to you Brian. I’m not even a Liverpool supporter but just because I suggested something to do with Liverpool doesn’t mean someone like Marshy can come along and start having a go. Once again fair play.

And also, thanks to everyone for the comments. Nice to get people’s opinions about this!

Well said Bryan. I’m fed up of hearing Liverpool born Red’s fans comment that anybody outside of Liverpool’s opinion’s don’t matter, but yet still want to talk about what a massive club Liverpool is. Liverpool is only a massive club because of it’s huge fanbase home and abroad not just the 60 odd thousand who live on Mersyside. If you want a club that size go support Tranmere.

Never, never, never, never… Yes, he is a pretty good player, but he is an idiot as well… And a trouble-maker… Never, I say… When it’s said that the feel-good factor is back at Liverpool, these kinds of signings are the ones who will ruin it again… Once again, NEVER…

Both obvious pros and cons to the Bellamy shout;Good player?Good value? Arsehole? Fall outs? Big headed dick? IF were gunna talk 4wards everyone seems to overlook “THE SNAKE!!”

    I’d take him back.

He wasn’t kicked out for the golf club. He was sold to fund the Torres transfer as the two owners wanted Benitez to sell before he could buy.

Bellamy would be a great acquisition. He has pace and knows how to play the right ball. He can play in Torres’ role WHEN Torres gets injured and play along side him.
    Better option than Crouch.
And the OOT debate is bollox. What next a local 11? Gerrard and Carragher aren’t even scousers.
