Manchester City striker not interested in £22 million move to Real Madrid

Manchester City striker Emmanuel Adebayor is not interested in joining Real Madrid and has expressed his desire to fight for his place in Roberto Mancini’s starting line-up.

The former Arsenal man was left out of City’s starting eleven for the trip to Tottenham last week. However, Adebayor, who has been linked with a £20 million move to Real Madrid, insists he is happy at Eastlands.

“As a footballer you have lots of difficult times and being sat on the bench for the first game of the season was tough for me. said Adebayor. “I was a little bit upset. I want to play football but we have a lot of talented players at this club. You have to fight for your place. I am very happy to be part of this club. I know there are a lot of things being said that I will be leaving.”

“I am not going anywhere. There’s no pressure for me to leave. Even if I went to somewhere like Real Madrid I would be in the same situation as here with many talented players, having to fight for my place with players like Cristiano Ronaldo and Kaka. I’m here and want to make my own history with City.”

With Mario Balotelli now at the club, I can’t see Adebayor being a regular part of Mancini’s starting eleven this season. There is no doubting Adebayor’s ability but with Carlos Tevez, Balotelli, Robinho and a number of other strikers on the books at City, it is hard to see the 26-year old getting much time on the pitch.

As always, we want to know what you think. Comments below please.

Adebayor will get LOTS of playing time. Tevez is not a lone striker and Balotelli is raw and inexpereinced in the EPL. Mancini would be crazy not to start Adebayor in the lone striker role or part of a front 3.

I agree RedandDread, Mancini will find out that not everything will go according to plan. Adebayor is a fixture in the league for a reason, when he is healthy he is durable and has the ability to play with many styles of midfielders which Balotelli has yet to prove he can do. Once Mancini settles in with the likes of Silva as a leader in the midfield the other players will let him be the Iniesta that I know he can be of their team.
