Arsenal likely to miss out on Mark Schwarzer

Posted by on August 31, 2010 | 9 Comments

I hope you are all enjoying the drama of transfer deadline day. Plenty of rumours going around, but not many deals going through as of yet.

Anyway, Fulham keeper Mark Schwarzer has been strongly linked with a move to Arsenal. However, it appears unlikely that the Australian will make the move to the Emirates. That’s according to BBC’s David Ornstein.

Arsene Wenger is understood to be keen to add a keeper to his squad before the window slams shut at 6pm this evening but after weeks and weeks of speculation surrounding Schwarzer, it looks as though he will remain at Craven Cottage.

The 37-year old has yet to play for Fulham this season with Mark Hughes opting to pick David Stockdale. It had been suggested that Arsenal made an improved offer of £4 million for Schwarzer this morning.

It will be fascinating to see if Wenger makes a move for another keeper before the window shuts later this evening. Make sure to stay tuned to Football Corner for all the latest.

Year after Year we shout at Wenger to bring in the right player and like every other year it looks like we will miss out again.

I honestly believe with a solid keeper we will win at least 1 bit of silverware. Unfortunately that is not 1 of our current keepers.

Wenger has left it too late and has once again lost us the chnace of winning silverware.

Bring back David Dein and with Dein will come silverware (and signings)

I think we should keep Alumnia and get rid of Fabianski if we buy Mark S.

I think the transfer might not go through because Hughes and wenger dont really like each other and it is Wenger’s fault for not doing the deal before Hughes was emplyed at Fulham.

To be honest this whole world cup punditing and Fabregas harrassing took it’s toll on Wenger. Even Sol said Wenger was too busy with Barca and Fabregas to deal with Contracts. In 9 months we will get Schwarzer and Everyone will be happy! Trust me, we are close, provided we don’t lose anyone else of substance and boys keep improving! No tournements, few injuries and a good pre-season will mean Arsenal for the title!

Well the deadline has gone. Congratulations Mr Wenger.

It looks like us Arsenal fans have another season to look forward. With excellent football, plenty of goals and even more mistakes by the idiots between the sticks.

Plus another season without a trophy
