Asamoah Gyan joined Sunderland for a fee believed to be around £13 million. If the Ghana striker plays like he did at this summer’s World Cup in South Africa, he should prove a decent signing for Steve Bruce.

Eidur Gudjohnsen, Jermaine Pennant, Marc Wilson and Salif Diao all moved to Stoke City. A mixed bunch really with Gudjohnsen no doubt the pick of the four signings for Tony Pulis.

Robinho left Manchester City to sign for Italian giants AC Milan. It is understood that Milan coughed up £22 million for the Brazilian international. In some ways, I’m actually quite sad to see Robinho leave the Premier League.

Birmingham signed a few players today including Aleksandar Hleb on a season-long loan deal from Barcelona. Martin Jiranek also moved to St Andrews from Russian side Spartak Moscow. Birmingham also brought Jean Beausejour in from Mexican side Club America on a very busy day for Aloex McLeish.

Rafael Van Der Vaart’s proposed move to Tottenham remains in the balance this evening but Harry Redknapp is confident the Real Madrid playmaker will make the switch to White Hart Lane.

So that’s it. There were a number of other deals that went through today but they weren’t worthy of a mention on Football Corner unfortunately. Feel free to leave your comments below.

You can go to Live Football Tickets now to buy Tottenham v Inter Milan tickets.

Manuel Almunia has come in for a lot of criticism in recent weeks with many Arsenal fans calling for Arsene Wenger to sign a new goalkeeper.

Mark Schwarzer and Shay Given were both strongly linked with a move to the Emirates. However, nothing ever materialised on either front and as a result, Almunia will remain Arsenal’s number one choice keeper.

If Arsenal were to challenge for the Premier League title this season, I personally felt they needed to sign a new keeper. No matter what way you look at it, Almunia is simply not good enough to be Arsenal’s first choice keeper andI can now see Arsenal struggling to mount any kind of title challenge.

We really want to know what you have to say on this one. Comments below please.

I doubt that City, the world’s wealthiest club, would let themselves go into the season with a depleted strike force. But if there’s any substance to the rumours of Adebayor’s departure to rivals Spurs, City must surely have somebody lined up. What do you think? Are the rumours of any substance at all? If so, who on earth could City be in the market for?

And what of Adebayor? Perhaps he has decided to dedicate the rest of his career to making Arsenal fans hate him even more!

But here’s a new one for you.

Ryan Babel.

Yes, there are reports this morning that Harry Redknapp is looking to sign the Liverpool midfielder before the transfer window shuts later today.

Tottenham are keen to bring Babel to White Hart Lane on a season-long loan deal. However, Liverpool are only willing to let Babel leave on a permanent basis.

The 23-year old has struggled to make much of an impact since joining Liverpool back in 2007 and should Babel stay, he is likely to spend much of the season sat on the bench.

It remains to be seen if a deal can be struck between Liverpool and Tottenham so stay tuned to Football Corner for all the latest.

Feel free to leave your comments below.

Plenty of rumours going around, but not many deals going through as of yet.

Anyway, Fulham keeper Mark Schwarzer has been strongly linked with a move to Arsenal. However, it appears unlikely that the Australian will make the move to the Emirates. That’s according to BBC’s David Ornstein.

Arsene Wenger is understood to be keen to add a keeper to his squad before the window slams shut at 6pm this evening but after weeks and weeks of speculation surrounding Schwarzer, it looks as though he will remain at Craven Cottage.

The 37-year old has yet to play for Fulham this season with Mark Hughes opting to pick David Stockdale. It had been suggested that Arsenal made an improved offer of £4 million for Schwarzer this morning.

It will be fascinating to see if Wenger makes a move for another keeper before the window shuts later this evening. Make sure to stay tuned to Football Corner for all the latest.

Before you read any further, I’ll just let you know, I personally can’t see this one happening.

The Daily Mirror has today reported that Tottenham are ready to make a surprise transfer deadline day move for Manchester City striker Emmanuel Adebayor.

The former Arsenal man is understood to be growing frustrated with the situation he finds himself in at Eastlands, ie, sitting on the bench, and the paper claims that Harry Redknapp is looking to bring Adebayor to White Hart Lane on a season-long loan deal.

Adebayor, 26, currently earns £170,000 a week at Man City and the Mirror claim that Spurs are prepared to pay half of his wages for the duration of the loan.

If, and it’s a pretty big if, Adebayor does leave City today, I really can’t see him joining Spurs. There is no way that Roberto Mancini will let him join a club who City will no doubt be battling with for a top 4 place this season.

We want to know what you have to say on this. Comments below please.

As you can tell, I am up very early on a day which I have always loved, transfer deadline day. Slightly disappointed that the window is closing at 6pm and not midnight as it used to be, but nevertheless, I think we are in for a busy few hours as clubs look to complete those last-minute deals.

I am sitting here with a cup of tea to my right and I am ready to bring you all the latest developments as they unfold throughout the course of the day. Who needs Sky Sports News, eh?

Plenty of big names could well be on the move today including the likes of Robinho and Emmanuel Adebayor, if you believe what you read in the papers.

Here are a few deals which I think may well go through before the window shuts at 6pm this evening.

Robinho will join AC Milan on a season-long loan deal.

Either Mahamadou or Lassana Diarra will leave Real Madrid to come to the Premier League.

And finally, Liverpool will sign a striker, possibly Carlton Cole.

We would love for you to get involved today. Whether it be posting on our Facebook page, leaving comments under the latest articles or even emailing us at football.corner@gmail.com

And one other thing, if you want to buy Premier League tickets right now, we suggest you go to Live Football Tickets.

The former Manchester United man has been strongly linked with a move back to the Premier League throughout the summer but as of yet, nothing has materialised. However, that may be about to change.

Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp is still keen to add another striker to the ranks at White Hart Lane with Robbie Keane likely to depart before the window shuts at 6pm on Tuesday. Luis Fabiano and Klaas Jan Huntelaar have both been linked but with Fabiano now staying at Sevilla and Huntelaar on the verge of joining Schalke, Rossi is now Redknapp’s number one target.

The 23-year old has scored 45 goals in just over 120 appearances for Villarreal and is considered one of the best strikers in La Liga. With Champions League football now on offer at Tottenham, it is understood that Rossi may be interested in a move to north London.

I personally would love to see Rossi back in the Premier League. He was never given a fair crack of the whip during his time at Old Trafford and if Tottenham can get him for somewhere near the £14 million mark, I reckon he would prove terrific value for money. Make sure to stay tuned to Football Corner for all the latest news as the transfer window gets ready to slam shut.

You can buy both Champions League final tickets and FA Cup final tickets right now. Who knows, maybe Spurs will be in both of them.
