Those are supposedly the words of a source close to Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Portuguese international, considered by many as one of the best players ever to play the game, has been strongly linked with a move to Manchester City in recent weeks.

Given the financial clout which Manchester City undoubtedly posses, it seems that the FA Cup winners are willing to do almost anything to bring Ronaldo to Eastlands.

The supposed source also added: “Cristiano says there has been contact between him and a third party. He says that he is extremely flattered at the lengths they’re willing to go to.”

“He says he wants £400,000 a-week as taxes are higher in England.”

You’ve got to love that last quote. He wants £400,000 a-week because taxes are higher in England. As if he really needs anymore money. The 26-year old is already considered to be on the brink of becoming a billionaire, but oh no, he still needs to take home almost half a million pound a week.

Apparently, Ronaldo will also demand the captain’s armband and the number 7 shirt at Manchester City if he is to make the move, which would no doubt cost the club around the £150 million mark.

What do you think? Will the former Manchester United man make the move to City? Comments below please.

We love a good transfer rumour here at Football Corner and luckily for us, it’s that time of year again.

Newspapers are doing their best to increase sales and boost traffic to their websites by linking certain players to certain clubs, knowing full well that the punters will buy the paper or click onto their site. I suppose we’re no better considering we give our take on these rumours hoping that you’ll read.

Anyway, what have we got for you today.

Cristiano Ronaldo is wanted back in Manchester, but it’s not his old employers United after him, it’s neighbours City.

The Real Madrid midfielder/striker (take your pick) has been in simply sensational form in recent weeks and has now overtaken Barcelona’s Lionel Messi in terms of goals this season.

However, despite performing so well on the field, there is now talk that Ronaldo, 26, is growing increasingly frustrated with life under the management of Jose Mourinho. Following the side’s Champions League semi-final 1st leg defeat against rivals Barcelona, Ronaldo criticised Mourinho’s tactics, and as a result, he was dropped for their next league game.

Manchester City will, of course, be playing Champions League football next season and as a result, have been linked with a number of the world’s top players in recent days and weeks. Any potential City bid for Ronaldo will no doubt exceed the world record fee of £80 million which Real paid Manchester United back in 2009.

I for one would love to see Ronaldo back in the Premier League. On his day, he is simply a joy to watch and I am one of those people who still considers him the best player in the world. Although it’s unlikely, you never know what might happen, should City offer Real over the £100 million mark. What do you think? Will Ronaldo be wearing a City jersey next season? Comments below please.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s header 13 minutes into extra-time proved enough to earn Real Madrid their first silverware in almost three seasons, as Real Madrid beat rivals Barcelona 1-0 at the Mestalla.

In an uncharacteristically boring El Clasico, neither side really looked like winning in normal time. Barcelona’s Pedro did hit the back of the net with just minutes remaining of the 90. However, the Spanish international was in an offside position and as a result, the game went to extra-time.

This was the second time the sides have met in the last week and it was clear for all to see that both are beginning to cancel each other out somewhat. The only goal of the game came when Angel di Maria’s perfectly weighted cross met the head of Ronaldo, who made no mistake from 8-yards out.

A superb goal, worthy of winning any cup final. There was one sour note for Jose Mourinho’s men as di Maria was sent off for a second bookable offence with just a minute to go.

This is the first time Real have won the Copa del Rey since way back in 1993. I’m a huge admirer of Los Blancos and was delighted they won. Real and Barca will now meet in the Champions League semi-finals and I for one simply can’t wait for the two-legged affair.

Finally, during the customary open-top bus journey, Real’s Sergio Ramos managed to drop the trophy underneath the bus. Fumble.

In case you don’t know already, the former Manchester United man scored four of Real’s six goals against Racing to help Jose Mourinho’s men move back to the top of the La Liga table.

Meanwhile, the player who my brother believes is the best in the world, Lionel Messi, scored twice for Barcelona in their 2-0 win over Real Zaragoza.

There is no doubt that at this moment in time, Ronaldo and Messi are the two best players in world football but who do you think is the better player? Feel free to leave your comments below.

You can buy yourself Real Madrid tickets and Barcelona tickets today.

From the moment it was announced that Manchester United had agreed a deal to sell Cristiano Ronaldo to Real Madrid, I was convinced that the Premier League title wouldn’t be making it’s way to Old Trafford this season and it looks as though I was right.

Even though they have only narrowly missed out on the title this year, I personally believe it’s fair to say that United looked nowhere near as good a side as they did when Ronaldo was at the club.

Without Ronaldo they seemed to lack that cutting edge which they most definitely had last season. It’s not just Ronaldo’s goals they missed this season because Wayne Rooney was doing the business for them in that department. It was Ronaldo’s ability to sprint past defenders and deliver stunning balls into the box that United really missed throughout this campaign.

You couldn’t really blame United for deciding to sell Ronaldo given the £80 million they were offered by Real Madrid. However the thing which baffled me and thousands of other football fans around the world was the club’s decision not to properly replace him. Yes they brought Antonio Valencia to the club but I know who I would pick if I had the choice between the former Wigan winger and Ronaldo.

It would seem that Sir Alex Ferguson has regrets over the decision to sell Ronaldo. The United boss was quoted as saying in today’s Telegraph that he wouldn’t spend £60 million on anyone except Cristiano.

Ronnie, as he was more affectionately known around Manchester, proved once again why he is one of the best in the world this evening, as he scored twice against Osasuna in a 3-2 win at the Bernabeu to help Real Madrid move back to within a point of Barcelona at the top of La Liga.

Like I said before, I never expected United to win the title this season once they sold Ronaldo and the only way I can see them winning the league in the future is if they sign a proper world class player who is capable of winning games by himself.

What do you think? Will Ronaldo ever play in the red of United again? Did United make a mistake selling Ronaldo to Real? Comments below please.

He only signed for Real Madrid last summer in a deal that cost the Spanish giants £80 million, however Cristiano Ronaldo has today admitted he wants to leave Real.

Ronaldo, 25, has been in magnificent form for the side currently top of La Liga, scoring 24 goals in 26 games for Real, however it would appear the early Champions League exit at the hands of Lyon may have affected the Portuguese winger.

Speaking earlier today exclusively to Football Corner, Ronaldo had this to say : “I am very happy at Real, I am not happy in Spanish football because I don’t like it and they don’t like me. Simple”

Ronaldo’s shock revelation is bound to alert the interests of several of Europe’s biggest clubs including the likes of Wigan, Accrington Stanley and most surprisingly of all Portsmouth, who at the moment can’t even afford to pay for the electricity bills at Fratton Park.

Right, so who copped it before the 3rd paragraph? Just to clear it up for all those who clearly have no sense of humour, IT WAS AN APRIL FOOL’S JOKE.

The former Manchester United man has been in cracking form of late for Real and you would think, if they are to progress tonight, that Ronaldo needs to be firing on all cylinders.

You may already know that I am now writing for Football Q’s and if you read last week’s article you will now that every Wednesday, as part of my work for Football Q’s, I will be posting a question here on Football Corner and asking you to take a few seconds to go and vote on it. Anyway, this week my question is : Will Cristiano Ronaldo score for Real Madrid tonight in their game against Lyon?

In case you were wondering, I think he will, but what do you think? Please take just a few seconds to go and vote!

When Manchester United decided to let Cristiano Ronaldo join Real Madrid in the summer, I must admit, I thought things could start going downhill for the Premier League Champions.

That feeling was further heightened when Sir Alex Ferguson failed to replace the Portuguese winger with the £80 million the club received from the deal.

7 months on and United look just as good, if not better than they did when Ronaldo was at Old Trafford. Since Ronnie, as he was more commonly know, left, a certain Wayne Rooney has become one of, if not, the best striker in world football.

The former Evertonian is now the main man at United since Ronaldo left the club and to say he is thriving under the added pressure is an understatement. Rooney played just over an hour of today’s 5-0 demolition of Portsmouth and still managed to be the star of the show, scoring once and setting up another.

Watching him during last week’s 3-1 win away to title rivals Arsenal was a privilege. It was just one of a number of world class displays the 24-year old has put in already this calender year.

I honestly thought United would struggle to even get close to claiming their 4th Premier League title in as many years with the way Chelsea were playing before the turn of the year, however at the moment, with the way they are playing, I really am beginning to change my opinion.

Comments below please.
