Romelu Lukaku turned just 18 years of age less than a month ago, and already the stage is set for him to become the next Premier League star.

The young striker, dubbed “The next Didier Drogba”, is on the verge of a move to Stamford Bridge after Chelsea had an offer, believed to be in the region of £20 million, accepted by Anderlecht.

The move, however, has been put on hold for the time being as Chelsea look for a new manager to replace the outgoing Carlo Ancelotti. A source close to the club has said that a deal will not be finalised until the managerial issue has been resolved. ”Chelsea are looking for a manager before signing the player. What kind of signal would it send for them to sign a player before they have a manager in place?”

Despite a host of top clubs constantly being linked with the Belgian international, Chelsea have been assured by the 18-year-old’s advisors that he sees his future with the London club.

Lukaku has already established himself as an international regular, netting twice in nine appearances for the Belgium national team.

The arrival of “The Next Drogba” at Stamford Bridge could ironically lead to the departure of Chelsea’s Ivorian striker. Tottenham and José Mourinho’s Real Madrid are thought to be keen pursuers of Drogba, 33, and Lukaku’s arrival will surely increase such speculation.

Herman van Holsbeeck, Anderlecht’s general manager, has remained tight-lipped regarding interest in Lukaku, claiming that: “There are several clubs that want this player, that is all I can say.”

The Belgian starlet, however, has expressed his desire to leave the club. He is currently pursuing a part-time diploma in tourism and public relations at Brussels College, and is keen to have matters regarding his future resolved as soon as possible to avoid negotiations interfering with his studies.

“I would like my future sorted out by June 5 because my exams start the following day, and I don’t want any other distractions that time.”

Is Lukaku a gamble at such a tender age, or is he the right man to take Chelsea forward? Will this arrival end Didier Drogba’s spell at Stamford Bridge?

Carlos Tevez has been strongly linked with a summer move away from Manchester City for quite some time and now, it is reported that Chelsea are preparing a big cash plus player offer.

Tevez, 27, was recently included in the PFA Team of the Year and is, unsurprisingly, a wanted man.

Italian giants Internazionale are said to be monitoring the situation. However, Chelsea now look set to challenge Inter for the Argentine striker, with talk of a a possible £40 million plus Didier Drogba bid set to be launched.

Despite Champions League football likely to be on offer at Eastlands next season, Tevez is supposedly keen to leave and a move to Chelsea now looks a real possibility.

It really would be the move of the summer, but for me, I can’t see Drogba too keen on being used as bait in any deal. Only time will tell I guess as to whether Tevez does move to Stamford Bridge and/or if Drogba does make the move north to Manchester, but I’m keen to hear what you think.

Goals from Joe Cole and Didier Drogba helped Carlo Ancelotti’s men leave Old Trafford with the all important three points, however there is no doubt that the linesman made a mistake by not flagging Drogba offside for Chelsea’s winner.

I told you on Thursday to get your money on Chelsea following the news that Wayne Rooney will be out for 2-4 weeks and well all I can say is, I hope you took my advice. They were a juicy price today and thankfully I got some money on them but I reckon they are still a decent price to go on and win the title now. They are now around a 8/13 to lift the trophy at the end of the season and I feel that is still worth backing.

Anyway, I’m keen to hear what you have to say regarding Chelsea’s performance today and their chances of going on to win the title now. Also, did you have any money on them today? Comments below please.

Whilst Didier Drogba was off playing for the Ivory Coast at the African Nations in January, Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney simply couldn’t stop scoring.

At one stage most leading bookmakers made Rooney the 1/4 favourite to be the Premier League’s top goalscorer this season and many saw that as buying money, however Drogba is back and it’s the Chelsea striker who is now scoring for fun.

Chelsea beat Wolves 2-0 today, with Drogba bagging both goals, whilst Rooney failed to score in United’s 3-1 defeat away to his old club, Everton. After today’s action, Drogba is now just two goals behind Rooney on 19 goals and with 11 games left this season, my money is certainly on Drogba to pip Rooney to the golden boot.

Drogba is now 13/8 to get ahead of Rooney, whilst the former Evertonian is has drifted to 8/13.

Both Chelsea and United have tough run-ins ahead of them, however unlike Rooney, who scores the majority of his goals at Old Trafford, Drogba can score both home and away and in the end, I think that will be the deciding factor.

What do you think? Who will be the Premier League’s top scorer this season? Drogba or Rooney? Comments below please.

This Halloween who will be the one the kids want to buy costumes to dress up as? This is the true test.
