Just hours after it was officially announced that Tottenham had agreed a deal to take Manchester City striker Emmanuel Adebayor on loan for a season, it has been suggested that Liverpool midfielder Joe Cole could also be on his way to White Hart Lane.

Cole, 29, has struggled to make an impact in the red of Liverpool since he joined the Merseyside club from Chelsea last summer. Since making the move, Cole has played 32 times for the Anfield club. However, many of those appearances came as a substitute and with an abundance of midfielders now at Liverpool, he has falling further down the pecking order under manager Kenny Dalglish.

As a result, speculation has been mounting with regards the possibility of Cole making a move this summer and reports on Thursday night have suggested that he is on his way to Tottenham.

Spurs boss Harry Redknapp is a keen admirer of Cole’s and the pair have already worked together during their days at West Ham. It would seem Cole is desperate to make the move to north London and it seems a really possibility now that he will be wearing a Spurs jersey before the transfer window shuts next week.

Personal view on the matter. Cole would be a great signing for Spurs and it would give the player the platform to re-ignite his career. Will the deal happen though? Well, I’d be very surprised if it didn’t, put it that way.

What do you make of this potential deal, and indeed, what do you make of Adebayor’s move to White Hart Lane? Comments below please.

It’s Wednesday and that can only mean one thing people. It’s time for your second installment of ‘FC’s Bits & Pieces’.

This week we have plenty to discuss so lets get started. First of all, Arsene Wenger has claimed that he is willing to splash £40 million on one player, that is IF, he finds the right man. The Frenchman has come in for some heavy criticism from the Gunners faithful of late for his reluctance to spend and that criticism has only increased following the departure of Cesc Fabregas to Barcelona earlier this week.

Speaking ahead of Arsenal’s Champions League tie against Italian side Udinese, which incidently, they ran out 1-0 winners at the Emirates on Tuesday night, Wenger had this to say: “I will pay 30 (million) I will even pay 40 if I find the right players. But it’s not a question of money, it’s a question of quality we find. I think I have a wrong reputation of not wanting to spend money – I do not want to spend money for average players.”

I think Wenger is telling porkies. If he didn’t want to cough up £22 million to sign Valencia’s Juan Mata a matter of weeks ago, then I don’t believe him when he says he is willing to spend £40 million on the right player.

Elsewhere, Tottenham are in negotiations with Manchester City to take striker Emmanuel Adebayor to White Hart Lane. The former Arsenal man is unlikely to get a look-in at the newly named Etihad Stadium this season considering the fact Roberto Mancini has an abundance of strikers at his disposal. Adebayor, 27, is considered surplus to requirements and as a result, City are desperate to offload him and his £170,000 a week wage packet.

It is expected that Adebayor will now join Spurs on a season-long loan deal with City continuing to pay a chunk of his hefty wages.

Meanwhile, in the Championship, Southampton now lead the way after their emphatic 5-2 win away to Ipswich on Tuesday night. Nigel Adkins’ men were only promoted back to the Championship a number of months ago, but it seems they are more than capable of sustaining a promotion challenge this season, much to the delight of Saints fans. Also, in the Championship, West Ham picked up their second win in three games last night with an impressive 4-0 win away to Watford. To see how the Championship table currently looks, click this link.

We like to include some transfer rumours in FC’s Bits & Pieces and this week we have a few intriguing ones for you. Internazionale have this afternoon announced that Wesley Sneijder is not for sale, claiming the Dutch international is “untouchable”. This comes just days after Manchester United apparently pulled out of any possible deal. Anyway, enough of Sneijder, what about Joey Barton. Well, West Ham want to bring him to Upton Park before the transfer window shuts. Everton, the club who have been as quiet as a pupil outside the Headmaster’s office during this transfer window, look as though they may be about to dip into the market and sign Manchester City’s out-of-favour defender Nedum Onuoha.

Finally, to end this week’s FC’s Bit & Pieces, we will leave you with a quote from Nottingham Forest boss Steve McClaren following his side’s 2-0 defeat at the hands of Millwall at the weekend. The former England boss had this to say: “For 3/4 of the field we looked very good, but nothing in the final 1/3.” Schteve is clearly not the scharpest tool in the boxch.

Good luck.

Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has today admitted he would be interested in bringing Manchester City striker Emmanuel Adebayor to White Hart Lane this summer.

The former Arsenal man has struggled to make a real impression at the Etihad Stadium since he made his £25 million move to Manchester back in 2009.

Adebayor, 27, spent six months on loan with Spanish giants Real Madrid last season and managed to bag himself 8 goals during his time at the Bernabeu, including two against Spurs in the Champions League.

Jose Mourinho is understood to still be considering a possible permanent move for Adebayor. However, as of yet, Real have yet to make a bid for the player, leaving the door open for Redknapp to make his move.

Spurs are keen to take Adebayor on a season-long loan, but it is thought that City would be prefer to get rid of the Togo striker altogether. Speaking on Tottenham’s pre-season tour of South Africa, Redknapp his to say with regards a possible move for Adebayor: ”I spoke to the chairman about loaning the player and if we could work out a deal for him, I would like to bring him to the club.”

There is no doubt that, on his day, Adebayor is one of the best strikers in the Premier League. I personally believe he could do a job at the lane, but I am keen to hear if you Spurs fans agree. Would you welcome Adebayor to the club? Comments below please.

Despite being the subject of racist chanting by Spurs fans in last month’s Champions League quarter-final, the Togolese striker would be open to a move to White Hart Lane when his loan spell in Madrid comes to an end.

“I heard about the chants and I felt so bad because before joining Real Madrid, my first choice was Tottenham,” he admitted.

“I would go there and sign for them. Maybe those fans were furious because I was scoring against them. Maybe they were thinking like that because Adebayor was taking them out of the Champions League and ending their dream of getting to the final.”

Adebayor infamously ran the full length of the pitch at the City of Manchester Stadium to celebrate scoring for City in front of the travelling Arsenal fans. He clearly has no intention of making amends as a move to their North London rivals would surely spark further controversy and increasingly damage his already poor reputation among the Gunners faithful.

Is Adebayor the right man for Spurs?

Leave a comment below and have your say.

The 26-year old moves to the Bernabeu after a frustrating last six months, which has seen him fall down the pecking order at Eastlands.

His departure from City has been expected for quite some time now, following the arrivals of Edin Dzeko earlier this month and Mario Balotelli back in August.

Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho had been desperate to add another striker to his squad after it was confirmed that Gonzalo Higuain will be out of action for the next four months through injury.

This deal seems to make sense for all parties. Roberto Mancini simply doesn’t need to have Adebayor sitting on the bench every weekend, while Mourinho could really do with a striker at the moment.

If all goes well, Real have an option to buy Adebayor on a permanent basis and it would come as no surprise to myself, if he where to have a very successful spell in La Liga.

Real Madrid have stepped up their interest in Manchester City striker Emmanuel Adebayor and it is rumoured that the former Arsenal man will join the Spanish giants next week.

Real boss Jose Mourinho admitted earlier this month that the club we’re looking for a new number 9, something which the club director general, Jorge Valdano, confirmed yesterday.

“Many names are being mentioned and it’s best not to go into details. But it’s true we are looking for a No 9.” said Valdano.

Mourinho’s interest in Adebayor comes as a result of a long-term knee injury to Gonzalo Higuain, who will miss the rest of the season following surgery.

Adebayor, 26, is desperate to leave Eastlands in the January window due to the lack of game time he has received under Roberto Mancini. A six-month loan deal is expected to go through next week, with Real having an option to buy the player at the end of the season.

Not one bit surprised to see this move happening. Real need another striker and City would prefer not to be paying £160,000 a-week to a player who they spent £25 million on and only sits on the bench every weekend. To be honest, I believe a move will do Adebayor the world of good and I can see him doing quite well at the Bernabeu.

Several websites and newspapers are suggesting that Manchester City striker Emmanuel Adebayor could well be on his way to Anfield.

Liverpool boss Roy Hodgson is keen to bring a number of new faces to Anfield during this transfer window in an attempt to turn the Merseyside club’s woeful season around.

With Edin Dzeko now virtually signed, Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini is ready to offload a striker, with Adebayor the man likely to depart Eastlands in the coming weeks.

So, what do Liverpool fans reckon? Is Adebayor really the man to save Liverpool’s season or should Hodgson look elsewhere? Comments below please.

The former Arsenal pair clashed just a day before City’s crucial trip to the Emirates and I can’t help but think that this will speed up Adebayor’s exit from Eastlands.

I’m curious to hear what you City fans have to say on this one, and indeed what you Arsenal fans think. Comments below please.
