Several Premier League strikers have already been linked with a move to Spanish giants Real Madrid and today a new name has been linked with a January move to the Bernabeu.

Tottenham’s Roman Pavlyuchenko is now believed to be one of Jose Mourinho’s number one targets, with talk today suggesting a six-month loan deal could be finalised later this week.

With Gonzalo Higuain likely to miss to the rest of the season through injury, Mourinho is desperate to bolster his attacking options before the window shuts next Monday.

Pavlyuchenko, 29, has struggled to consistently produce his best form in a Spurs shirt since moving to White Hart Lane in 2008 and has been linked with a move away from the north London club on several occasions.

A lot will depend on the future of Robbie Keane if this move is to go through. Should Keane remain at the club, it is understood that Pavlyuchenko will move to Madrid on a six-month loan deal.

I’m sure you’ll agree that it would be fairly strange to see Pavlyuchenko wearing a Real Madrid jersey. I’ve never been his biggest fan and I certainly don’t believe he is capable of playing for Real.

Arsenal have been linked with a flood of strikers in recent days and today, a surprise name has emerged.

Tottenham’s Roman Pavlyuchenko is the latest big name (literally) striker to attract interest from Arsene Wenger, with the his agent, admitting anything can happen in January.

Pavlyuchenko, 27, has barely played for Spurs this season, with Harry Redknapp opting to stick with the likes of Peter Crouch, Jermain Defoe and Robbie Keane.

Since arriving from Spartak Moscow nearly a year and a half ago, Pavlyuchenko has made just 32 Premier League appearances for the north London club and if you believe the papers, he will definitely be leaving White Hart Lane this January.

With Arsenal captain Cesc Faregas admitting today that the club need a new striker, it makes sense to me that he Gunners are being linked with a player like Pavlyuchenko, however, as we know, very few players make the switch between the two clubs.

Usually, I would say that Pavlyuchenko isn’t Arsenal material, however considering the club’s current crisis in the striking department, I think Arsenal could do a lot worse than the Russian international. I am curious to hear what you Arsenal fans, and indeed Spurs fans have to say on this one. Have your say by leaving a comment below.

The Daily Mirror has today reported that Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez is preparing a January move for Tottenham striker Roman Pavlyuchenko.

The Russian international admitted yesterday that he was desperate to leave White Hart Lane due to the lack of first team football of late and if you believe what you read in the papers, a loan move to Merseyside could well be on the cards.

As we all know, Liverpool are short of strikers (well, good ones anyway) and money so it would make sense to look for a loan signing, however I’m not sure Pavlyuchenko is really Liverpool material.

The 27-year old has proved during his time at Spurs that he is not a 20 goal a season man and to bring in another, to put it bluntly, shite striker would be a waste of time.

Having said that, things can’t really get any worse for Rafa Benitez, so bringing in a new face may save their season, who knows. So, what do you think? Pavlyuchenko for Liverpool? Comments below please.

The Russian international has spent just over a year in north London, however he has made only 30 Premier League appearances during that time, scoring just 5 goals. Pavlyuchenko, 27, arrived at Tottenham with quite a big reputation but unfortunately for himself and the club, he has failed to live up to that billing.

Speaking today, Pavlyuchenko said today : “I want to leave the club. It is impossible to remain there under the circumstances I find myself in. I have been sitting on the subs’ bench for half a year and as a result lost a place in the starting 11 of the national team.”

Spurs boss Harry Redknapp will be more than happy to cash in on Pavlyuchenko once the January transfer window opens, as he looks to strengthen his squad in different areas. It is thought that Spurs will listen to any offers near the £10 million mark and with several European clubs already admitting an interest, that shouldn’t be a problem.

It will be fascinating to see who Pavlyuchenko ends up with. I personally don’t foresee him moving back to his old club Spartak Moscow but a move to Spain really does look like a decent bet at the moment. Valencia are one of the clubs reportedly interested in the 6 foot 2 inch striker and in my view, the Mestalla may well be his home come the end of January.

What do you think? Comments below please.

The Russian striker has struggled for first team football this season, with Jermain Defoe, Robbie Keane and Peter Crouch all above him in the pecking order at White Hart Lane.

Speaking today, Pavlyuchenko had this to say : “No footballer likes being on the bench game after game. I could lose my place in the Russia squad ahead of the 2010 World Cup. I’m ready now to listen to offers from other clubs.”

The 27-year old was linked with a move to both Villarreal and Roma earlier this summer, however for whatever reasons nothing ever materialised. Following today’s comments, I would be pretty confident that Pavlyuchenko won’t be wearing the white of Spurs this time next week.

There is no doubt that on his day, Pavlyuchenko was a really decent striker but unfortunately for him, he could not reproduce his best form on a consistent basis.

What do you think? How much should Spurs look to sell Pavlyuchenko for? Comments below please.

Tottenham striker Roman Pavlyuchenko will not be joining AS Roma despite reports suggesting otherwise.

The Russian international is unlikely to be a permanent fixture in Harry Redknapp’s starting eleven next season, with Robbie Keane, Jermain Defoe and Darren Bent all ahead of him in the pecking order. This has led to intense speculation that Pavlyuchenko will be on his way out of White Hart Lane in the coming weeks, however his agent has confirmed that Roma have not made a bid.

Viktor Koldar, Pavlyuchenko’s agent, had this to say : “I don’t know anything. By reading the papers I learnt that the club would make a move for the player, but with regards to myself no-one has made me aware of anything. There’s nothing concrete because there have been no offers made either to the club or to the player.”

I would be surprised to still see Pavlyuchenko wearing the white of Tottenham next season. There is no doubt that on his day, Pavlyuchenko is more than capable of playing at the highest level, however during his time at Spurs he hasn’t done enough for me. His goalscoring record hasn’t been too bad, 14 goals in 32 games, however the majority of those goals came in the Carling Cup.

What do you think? Comments below please.
