It seems as though Manchester City’s summer spending is set to continue as the world’s richest club get ready to make a £40 million bid for Barcelona striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

The Swedish international has been strongly linked with a move away from the Spanish giants following the arrival of David Villa at the Camp Nou towards the end of May.

Chelsea are also understood to be interested in the 28-year old striker but with City the only club prepared to offer £40 million and indeed match Ibrahimovic’s wage demands, a move to Eastlands seems the most likely option.

Roberto Mancini has already added Yaya Toure, David Silva and Jerome Boateng to his squad over the past few weeks and if you believe what you read in the papers, Ibrahimovic could be the next to arrive.

Much has been made of Ibrahimovic’s “lazy” style of play but to be honest, I still think he is a magnificent striker. There is absoloutley no denying that Ibrahimovic scores goals and I for one reckon he would be a superb addition to the City squad.

I’m sure City fans wished they were the same thing!

Following the news that Barcelona had agreed a £34 million fee with Valencia to bring David Villa to the Camp Nou, the man on your left, Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been strongly linked with a move away from the Catalan giants.

The Swedish striker has come in for some heavy critiscim amongst the Barca faithful for what many considered to be a pretty average season.

Ibrahimovic, 28, scored 21 goals in his first season at the club since leaving Inter Milan last summer in a deal which cost Barca an estimated £80 million (£40 million + Samuel Eto’o).

According to numerous reports today, Premier League trio Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United are all believed to be monitoring Ibrahimovic’s situation.

With Villa set to be unveiled as a Barcelona player tomorrow morning and with Arsenal’s Cesc Fabregas also close to a move to the club, many, including myself, believe the end is near for Ibrahimovic, in terms of his Barca career.

There is no point in Barca keeping Ibraimovic at the club if he is going to sit on the bench most weekends. They are obviously going to have cough up somewhere near the £40 million mark if they want to sign Fabregas so selling Ibrahimovic seems the sensible option.

Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United are all keen to add to their attacking options during the summer transfer window and with Ibrahimovic now likely to be available, there is a growing feeling that the former Internazionale striker will be playing in the Premier League next season.

He may not be the most enjoyable player in the world to watch but there is no denying the fact that wherever he has been, he has scored goals. I am a big fan of Ibrahimovic’s and I for one think he would be a massive hit in England if he does indeed join one of the three clubs mentioned.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is likely to have a busy few months ahead of him as he looks to strengthen his squad ahead of next season.

Dozens of names have already been linked with moves to the Emirates but all the talk in recent days is about a possible departure from the club. Club captain Cesc Fabregas looks as though he is on his way to Barcelona so bearing that in mind, Wenger should have plenty of money to spend on new faces.

There is no doubt that Arsenal need to sign a new goalkeeper during the summer window given the fact that the keepers they have at the moment aren’t very good. Manchester City’s Joe Hart has been mentioned on several occasions with the Gunners apparently preparing to make an £8 million bid for the England international in the coming weeks.

With Fabregas likely to leave, Wenger will no doubt be on the look out for a world class midfielder to try and fill the Spaniard’s boots. A player who I firmly believe has the ability to replace Fabregas is Bordeaux’s Yoann Gourcuff. The French international is considered by many as one of Europe’s finest midfield players and having seen him playing several times, I reckon Wenger should do all he can to bring Gourcuff to Arsenal.

Finally, I know Marouane Chamakh is on the way but I feel Arsenal could still do with signing another striker. They never really replaced Emmanuel Adebayor when he went to Manchester City last summer and I personally think that cost them big time last season.

I saw Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s name briefly mentioned this morning and I know he didn’t have the best of season’s but in my opinion, he is still an unbelievable player. Arsenal fans saw first hand just what the Swede is capable of when he scored twice at the Emirates in the quarter-finals of the Champions League back in March. Barca are clearly keen to get rid of the 28-year old and I feel he would be a cracking signing for Arsenal.

So what do you think? We want to know what 3 players Arsenal should sign this summer? Tell us your three players by simply leaving a comment below.

Chelsea are ready to make a £50 million move for Inter Milan striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic after the player admitted he is very flattered to be linked with the Premier League giants.

When asked about the possibilty of a summer move to Stamford Bridge, the Swedish striker had this to say : ”I am fully aware that Chelsea want to sign me and, of course, it is very flattering. They are one of the biggest teams in Europe and the Premier League is one of the best leagues in the world.”

Chelsea boss Carlos Ancelotti is desperate to bring in a new striker this summer and Ibrahimovic is understood to be one of his leading targets. Ibrahimovic, 27, has in recent times claimed that he may be ready for a new challenge and Chelsea are preparing to test Inter’s resolve with a £50 million bid.

I have always been a huge fan of Ibrahimovic’s and I would love to see him arrive at Stamford Bridge in the coming weeks. During his three years at the San Siro, Ibrahimovic has scored an impressive 65 goals in all competitions and I’m sure if he was to arrive in England, he would score bags of goals. It will be interesting to see what happens in the coming weeks, so stay tuned to Football Corner.

Whay do you think will happen? Comments below please.
